Yeah. I miss those.nuther genius feature on Fender amps was the extra socket wired parallel in the back..
I was in the marching band. I didn't hitI was a flanker. I got to hit everybody.
.I was in the marching band. I didn't hit.
I did some weird looking things with a parametric channel and blended it with the other, and some of the EQ. Someone might look at the head and because the para channel looked goofy think it a mistake. Big but tight, plenty of punch and fullness with just the right amount of clarity. Sounded fantastic and everyone liked my tone. With two channels and an EQ, if a person can't get a good tone out of it, it must be a crappy cab. Not to mention the suckers are bomb proof. It sounds really good, and you can get just about anything out of it.
Maybe that's why you don't remember anything about them, they kinda don't have a 'baked in' sound you have to work around.
I think the bottom on the MK-III is tighter, and it's also loud as hell. Since I could use the bread and don't need to carry the 80 lb head (life is too short to work that hard for simple things), I'm hoping the Peavey makes the grade.
Last time I tested them together it was found, afterwards, that the MK-III wasn't letting the low freqs through. Now it sounds a good deal different. If it carries rehearsal today, we have a winner.
I'm losing either way, I'm also winning either way.
And of course, the Thunderbird CP will be our tester for today.
Funny, the Les Paul Standard (Epi) bass I have is that way too: super-crunch and some rasp to boot. I'm trying to get it to clean up, but I don't spend that much time plugged in so it's a slow curve getting there. As a six string, it doesn't dive at all. And it weighs about as much as an acoustic guitar. The pickups sure are aggressive on mine. Keep the volume rolled off, way off, or you get lots of instant crunch.
Ampeg 3PROs had that as well. Wondered what all amps didn't do that. $$$ I guess. So handy.nuther genius feature on Fender amps was the extra socket wired parallel in the back..

It’s a sweet playing semi hollow short scale bass. I was looking for that semi hollow bass sound and bought both the Starcaster and A Gibson Memphis GoldTop at the same time with the intent of keeping the best of the two and selling the other one off. As luck would have it, they both sounded equally fantastic. So I strung the Gibson up with flats and the Fender with rounds and now I couldn’t be happier.oof. Tell me about that Starcaster.
When I "needed"(?)a short scale semi-hollow body bass, for UB situations, I bought this(Ibanez AGB200)~15 years ago. Right at 7 lbs. with strap and tuner, both of which stay on. $550. Nylon tapes installed. It’s a sweet playing semi hollow short scale bass. If you can find a Starcaster down around $1000 just jump on it, it’s a fantastically built bass and those wide range humbuckers are to die for. It’s only down side when compared to the Gibson is it’s heavier than I expected from a semi hollow short scale bass, about 9 pounds vs the 7 pound Gibson. Might just be the one I got was heavier than normal, but worth asking the seller before buying if you’re weight sensitive.
