It’s a 70s Ventura. MIJ, setneck, most likely Matsumoku. It’s very similar to the Ibanez 2452dx but it had one of those garbage 2 post eb style bridges that had collapsed. Also the original electronics are long gone. It would have originally had those ‘single under a hum cover’ pickups but now it’s got some modded artec muddies and a hipshot bridge. I need to get it refretted sometime in the next few years but it plays well enough right now.

Oh, and it’s a maple pancake body, 3pc maple neck and 13lbs

Was it the bridge that looks like it's sitting on posts, but it's really screwed down?

I bought a slightly ratty, low end Gibson SG a while ago. I really like it a lot. Too bad it sounds awful when I play it. The extra two little strings confuse me.

It is faded red, meaning satin-ish and very thin nitro. I have thought about getting it refinished, but it feels so good to my hands that it probably will stay just as it is.

SGs have been an acquired taste for me. I thought they were goofy looking for years.

I never thought they looked goofy. I couldn’t decide what I thought, but they were never a favorite style. Then I played one and became a fan - though the looks were still meh or whatever. Now Thunderbirds and Firebirds? They hit all my buttons.

I spent a couple of Christmas breaks in Tampa. One morning about 8 it was in the 60s. The neighbors looked at me like i was nuts for being in shorts and barefoot.
