Thunderbird Club

I agree, I have a number of basses with different necks/fb's - narrow, wide, shallow, baseball-bat and different lengths (30", 32", 34") Whenever I play them, they each dictate how I play. I've always like that because it opens up new avenues to expression. I don't have a favorite, but prefer ones over others.
Thickness does not impact me a whole lot (ahem). Width is key for me. I like a 1.5" or 1.6" nut. (ahem)

So guys. Help me out. How much better is the Classic Pro than the bolt on neck Thunderbirds? And the Vintage Pro?

I play in a post rock band and want to tune my bass to CGCF to go along the two guitars.

what do you think of the Classic vs Vintage for this genre is music and with this Drop C tuning?
Better? I don't think that there is a better. Just different.

And how much close is the sound of the Classic Pro to the real deal Gibson? They have the same pickups as I can tell. And the specs? Are they the same?
Two birds. One (the standart bolt on neck) in regular tuning and other (the Classic Pro) in Drop C. If they sound right it will be my to go bass for this band I have.

I love the neck and how confortable I can play with my small hands. So I think I found my thing.
15 years ago I had a Goth Epi Thunderbird. I regret selling it. But now I have again a 2012 Epi Thunderbird standard.
I have my CP tuned in D standard. I quite like the way that sounds. I am playing through a Traynor YBA 100 and 1510, so YMMV.

We have lamb several times a month in this household. Love me a seared and slow cooked shank served bone in on a bed of rosemary mashed potatoes, or lamb chops fresh off the grill with mint sauce (not mint jelly) and herb infused baby potatoes, or even a lamb roast slowly cooked on the rotisserie with a large side of fresh lightly cooked garlic and rosemary infused asparagus, or having a big helping of shepherds pie made with ground lamb on a cold or rainy day. Yep, we love our lamb, please keep importing it!

All good choices. One thing else I do is to get a lamb shoulder from the butcher and ask them to butterfly it. I used to bring the bone home for the dog (sad face). Then I make a marinade of olive oil, garlic, lemon juice, lemon rind and rosemary (I think that’s all) and marinade it for a good while - a couple of hours. Then on to the BBQ grill and it’s done in half the time the shoulder would be done whole. Carve it up and serve in slices. It is quite a Greek style. Bloody beautiful says this Aussie.

They will all get the job done, but the neck throughs are nice instruments. The VP has the chrome and it's a nice replica of the old Gibsons, so it's a piece of art, especially under stage lights.

Has anyone replaced their Gibson T-Bird tuners with Hipshot Mini clovers and if yes, are they a direct fit?
Yes and it depends. They are not a direct fit for a 1991. They are on later Thunderbirds. I don't know the changeover or if there was a set one. Gibson and parts is just one of those mysteries sometimes.

I can only imagine how frustrating that is. I recall being in school with all right hand desks. I think there might have been two or three lefties in each school. Like other lefties, I was regularly disenfranchised and traumatized, but like all lefties, we have to be tough to live in this world. I guess that may be why lefties are far more likely to be ambidextrous than "those other people." Apparently we have a significantly larger bundle of nerve fibers connecting the two sides of the brain than right-handers do.
I cut to the chase and started playing right handed….. problem solved….

Who makes an ATA TSA approved flight case for the T-bird? I have the largest Gator molded one and it's too short for my T-bird. I have a leather covered wood hard case for my T-bird but it's not a TSA case, though it does lock. Would prefer a molded case to fly with.

Thanks
I don't think there is one. I have looked out of curiosity. Pelican might make a case that would work once the interior was built. They make cases for long guns that are about the right size. I haven't figured it out once and for all though.
