Thunderbird Club

I was shocked the company dumped all those albums. Same thing with Traffic. All their albums were cutouts around the same time. I completed my vinyl Traffic collection then. Which of course was refreshed with cd’s ten years later.

So they sold millions of Saturday Night Fever albums and thought that was the future? Ugh.

You can find three LP's commonly in any thrift store; South Pacific soundtrack, Saturday Night Fever soundtrack, and Whipped Cream and other Delights by Herb Albert & the Tijuana Brass.

The other day my wife asked me if I had an unmodified bass? .....um...only one I can think of is my Aria Pro II SB600.

I have between 25-30, and I think only one is unmodified, and that is my 2019 4003s/5. But even that has had the PG and TRC switch to black. A couple old Fenders have Schaller bridges, Hipshot extender and the pickups aren’t original. That’s constitutes the minimum I end up doing to most of my basses.

I never change them to where they can't be returned to stock, I save anything I take off just in case.
As do I. But I’m too old to really care. The Thunderbirds will be here when I pass. I started a journal for my kids so they can distribute them without losing money. The other basses will hopefully be gone before then (assuming I have time to prepare). A bit morbid. Isn’t it.

Baby Grand's 1st album is pretty common 'round here. Happy The Man's first album as a US pressing and cut-out is surprisingly common for a slightly obscure prog album from 1977. The 2nd album "Crafty Hands" I've never seen on vinyl.

That's something we all have to eventually think about. I think about it too.

OK, here's the long story very condensed: I had a lot of my stuff stored at my father's house who was in poor health. I took care of him while he was in hospice at his house (emphysema, not an enjoyable experience at all). After he died near the end of 2019 my family decided to sell the house which couldn't be sold for one year I think because of probate court or something like that. I left for Peru in December right after he passed away and planned on coming back in April of 2020 to get the house ready to be sold, to sell at least some of my stuff and button it up. Covid had other ideas, they closed this country right up also in April 2020 including the airports until the end of the year. So I got stuck here, my brother took over and threw all my stuff in storage which highly irritated me but there was nothing I could do, they were in a big hurry to sell it. I was not able to leave here until after it was sold so I'm still not sure what to do, I do know that I'm very tired of paying the storage fee every month though. I like it out here but would move back in a NY minute. I still get offered some pretty good gigs back there but we're taking care of her 94 year old mother and are kind of stuck. That's another long story which I won't go into.
So anyway, I'm going back for a few months soon and may work as I kept up my RN license just in case and hopefully figure out a solution.

I still haven't decided whether to check these on the plane or carry them on

They look like carry-on to me.

Actually, I have a few others: Squire Jag SS, Peavey Axcelerator 5 and Michael Kelly Dragonfly ABG. But I just haven't gotten to those yet:laugh:
If you haven’t upgraded the PUP’s in that Squier Jag, you should. I had one for a hot minute and decided it was a POS. I wasn’t willing to mess with it. Sharp fret ends. Imprecise tuners that were a pain. A terrible J pickup at the bridge and a nothing special P pickup at the neck. I took it back and got my MIM Fender Mustang PJ. I swapped out the tuners in the Mustang for Hipshots and it is a really nice SS bass. I should play it more.

My son and daughter in law are both musicians, as is my brother. I'm not too worried about anything going to waste or getting sold off too cheap.

Hope you get it sorted Bob. you’re a good guy. It’s tough when the wife needs you there 24/7 to help. Going through that now with my father in law.

BTW. Those SVTs and fridges are a nice pair.
