Managed to score a scare Ibanez pedal from the L series which along with the 10 series is my favourite. For a dirt cheap price too.

Of course it didn't work...
Oh well, got my money back from the seller and got to keep the pedal and now I'm hoping I can get it fixed. It powers up, the switch works but the signal doesn't get through or (from dry out) sounds like a very bad fuzz.
Looked very clean inside too, no broken printboards or anything. We'll see.

I have a couple '90s DigiTech delay/sampler pedals - a 2 sec and an 8 sec. Made many crazy recordings with them.

I'm nowhere near a technical minded person.
But these particular ones i have, (according to what little i know), were wired passive, but still require the pre-amp that accompanies them.
So, my feeble mind here questions how are they passive then?

they aren’t (been an EMG guy forever) unless something changed they always required a battery…

I currently play mostly passive basses - active basses are always capable of a big bass response. (which can be dialed back) On a passive bass - I've found there is less control of a bassy pu. As in - it's a bassy bass unless you start screwing with amp/DI levels. My Jolana Discobas is a bassy bass no matter what your on-board setting are. It's good bassy, but generally not for me. It has a unique electronics harness - each pot/knob is bass-treble for each pu. Gets some pillowy bass this one does...

I rewired my Discobass to VV with 500K pots. The original wiring rolled off too much treble for me.

I want one of those weirdos so bad, along with a D bass and Diamant. I know they're all garbage but still...

Weren't those all made in the Bohemia Musico Delicia plant? They made those sweet Spectors and some Epis and Deans, too.

I'm quite a fan of the Czech Deans. I have a few of the thin-stringers.

Yep - it's a pretty bassy sounding bass. Perfect for those who prefer that as it sounds really good.

Never tried them.

They are different, to say the least. I have them in the Zombiecaster guitar and the fretless 'Bird. They are influenced by the location of the pickup on the string, the height of the pickup, and what strings you use. Other than that, they are absolutely silent and colorless. They are perfect for pedals, but they are kinda bland otherwise. I like them up to a point for that reason, even though I don't use pedals much.

Since it appears to be the eclectic bass day in bird land, I finally did a proper setup and cleaning on the National. Of course, intonation on a two saddle bridge is just splitting the difference, but close enough.
