I looked at my pu bin and I have a couple J sets of EMG's, and a set of EMG soap-bars. (no Barts... I recall now that I sold them) If anyone needs one or the other of the EMG's - PM me.

Out of all our songs, I doubt if any were recorded on a TBird. Don't care. It's what I play.
I don't attempt to duplicate the sound on the recording, just the notes. We ain't the recording.
FWIW, my LPB-2/5 came from Gibson with active Bart HB's.

I currently play mostly passive basses - active basses are always capable of a big bass response. (which can be dialed back) On a passive bass - I've found there is less control of a bassy pu. As in - it's a bassy bass unless you start screwing with amp/DI levels. My Jolana Discobas is a bassy bass no matter what your on-board setting are. It's good bassy, but generally not for me. It has a unique electronics harness - each pot/knob is bass-treble for each pu. Gets some pillowy bass this one does...
The pickups are technically passive, but probably lo-Z (low impedance), which also means low output, so they need the preamp to drive your guitar amp. Otherwise they’d be pretty quiet even with the amp cranked.
Managed to score a scare Ibanez pedal from the L series which along with the 10 series is my favourite. For a dirt cheap price too.
Of course it didn't work...
Oh well, got my money back from the seller and got to keep the pedal and now I'm hoping I can get it fixed. It powers up, the switch works but the signal doesn't get through or (from dry out) sounds like a very bad fuzz.
Looked very clean inside too, no broken printboards or anything. We'll see.
