Thunderbird Club

Back then, I was lifting at lunchtime and running after work.

We used to say "I don't eat like this because I run, I run so that I can eat like this".

That was Jim Fixx's mantra too and he keeled over running at 52 or 53, but he was one of those mo...er people who wouldn't go to doctors, and cardiac problems ran in his family, during his autopsy they found two blocked coronary arteries. Suck a waste. His father had died of an MI at about age 42.

A good friend in the army, a nurse, announced that she had bought a new car. When asked what kind, she looked at me and said in her best dumb blonde voice "a blue one". It was the funniest joke.

I had a girlfriend who played the 'dumb blonde' to a T, it was funny and she was actually pretty intelligent but it was just her way.

That was a Donnie Iris song (Ok, spelled differently).

Not a great song, but given some of the schlock that was coming out at the time, it was a pleasant reprieve when it came on the AM radio in the car.

I liked that stuff, also like Cliff Richards too. He had several good hits around that time.

Alan Tarney was the bassist

This is the first song I ever noticed that had a downtuned D, (hopefully I didn't post this here before because I know I did post it somewhere). I thought this was a masterpiece of pop.

This is a super guilty pleasure song for me, I have always really liked it. However, I saw/heard a live performance and it was really bad, just couldn’t catch the magic of the recording vocally.

This is the Cliff Richard I prefer. With Hank and the Shadows.

You miss their hot pants :p
Those of us who regularly flew the OC to Jan Jose/San Francisco-Oakland flights had an ongoing debate as to who had the cutest attendants. Air Cal or PSA. And the apartment complex I lived in in Irvine was two miles from the airport. A lot of the girls lived there. We spent hours “studying” by the pools.

Is that live? If it is it's pretty good for those days. I know he was the first big rocker in England at least I believe so. He always had it.
I think so. A lot of the Shadows stuff was live on the BBC. Unfortunately, hundreds of hours went unpreserved. From about ‘60/‘61 to the latter part of ‘63, Cliff was the biggest star in Britain. Then four other guys came along…..

I'm not a slightly built person either, the first time I ran I only ran for a little over 6 months, I was a Jim Fixx devotee who died of a massive MI while running, that helped changed my mind, I had gotten up to about 30-35 miles a day and really enjoyed it but work and other things also got in the way.
Since then I've run off and on, or walked, the thing I like about it is once you get into the zone you just seem to glide almost effortlessly, and it also regulates my appetite, I actually eat less when I run.
I never ran enough to hurt my knees, I was pretty light back the though, I'm not as light now as I was so I'm taking it easy and building up. It's not really easy to run in this city though, lots of cars and intersecting streets. I run to the next main street and back, about two miles, that's enough for now. I do feel a lot better since I started again though, we could only go out for an hour a day during the pandemic so I couldn't wait to do some kind of exercise.
I’m eating less since I’m biking more. Wild.

Mine are on my Kindle, pretty good selection but there are some books you can't get especially older books that weren't big sellers.
Likewise, I use a Kobo/Rakuten for books now. Particularly useful for reference books as everything is then searchable. Everything public domain is available, but not everything that is older and less popular. Still, hard to find those in hard copy too.

A bit like Spotify. that way. I fail to understand why I can't get Sex Gorilla by National Velvet on Spotify.

And to save everyone potentially NSFW search results
