Thunderbird Club

I redid the String Demo video. I fixed the rendering issues and added images where the Thunderbirds change. I also labeled the strings with one exception. I couldn't figure out how to split an audio clip so when you see a VP with no string label, they are the stock round wounds.

There is a longer and more detailed explanation on YouTube but simply, each track has three iterations Neck 10, Bridge 0, Tone 10; Neck 0, Bridge 10, Tone 10; and Neck 10, Bridge 10, and Tone 10.

:thumbsup:Excellent post!
I don’t doubt you spent some serious time playing, recording and editing all that into the video clip. Tons of content there to help folks determine which string sounds best in which setting. Thanks for taking the time to do this and posting it!

Overall, I really liked how tight the SIT Power Flats sounded in each clip, they neither over powered the mix or faded into the background, just a cool clean crisp low mid focused string. The stock strings sounded a bit too wooly in each mix for my tastes. The cobalts were my second favorite, not quite as tight as the SITs but still much crisper than the stock strings. The La Bella tapes sounded good in some of the mixes but in others there was almost a chorus effect going on and some occasional clack from the pic attack or the frets that the other strings didn’t seem to have.

Looks like I’m gonna have to get out there and buy some SIT power flats to replace my cobalt flats. Thanks for the string GAS that I didn’t have before listening to your post. :D

I'm still using SIT Power Flats on my Epi Embassy. I bought a set of EBCFs to replace them with, but they still sound great so keeping the EBCFs in reserve-for now.

Yesterday I said there isn't much in my artist FB page. But since it is "promote yourself Tuesday" (just made that up) I post the link again.
And there's something there as I already posted stories and the background of two songs and probably will post some isolated tracks or even unreleased stuff there in the near future. It starts to sound like I'm promoting a big name here...
