Thunderbird Club

Geo I re/heard Hey Bulldog by The Beatles. Do you do that one? I think it has a “spy movie” type riff in it, though the lyrics are not. I figure it may be a fun choice though.

Good ear - Yes, we've done it for years as a trio* before Kirstin joined. The keys on the chorus do have the Bond theme ascending line in it and I coached Kirstin to make sure that part is very present in our live mix.

Here's the version we went from;

* Chucky vid'd us playing it as a trio at Winters' when Kirstin couldn't do the gig - maybe he can post it as I can't recall the heading.

The guy finally did a bass version of the video.

LOL - an ok attempt at satire type comedy that pretty much gores everyone’s goat (in the bass community at least). I do feel honored that the mighty Thunderbird was mentioned right after the P and J basses, well before the Ric, Beatle, Ibby and Fodera lines. I guess we’re movin up in the world!

Now someone needs to post a video of “What Your Mustache Says About You”. I could go on for a while about what his mustache tells me, but I’d probably derail the thread and get banned. :rollno:

So instead, I’ll give a thumbs up to Irv @Engle who is doing a bang up job on a couple of custom pickguards for me. :thumbsup:

My wife was a huge Kids in the Hall fan, so we've been rewatching all of the old episodes, and we actually got about halfway through the second season before I realized that the theme, "Having An Average Weekend", by Shadowy Men on a Shadowy Planet, features Thunderbird content! It's a blink-and-you'll-miss-it kind of thing, but it's definitely there...

Edit: That was apparently Reid Diamond on bass, and he appears to have been a Tbird fan based on the number of photos over the years that show him playing one.

this guy right here….

OK, point A: I never liked "The Police" so I pretty much avoid listening to them(plus I think Sting's an A-hole). I do know he never liked Copeland's drumming. and,(II), they, of course, record to a 'click track', so one could come in on the 'and-a' of 3. What happens live may be a whole 'nuther story.

Also, I'm convinced that some bands recorded something "weird" just to f---* up cover bands.

noted……:thumbsup:
not about liking or disliking anybody…..back to the original point that some drum intros are clever in that they seem much easier to execute than they truly are…..:cool:
