My Pro V was made in China or Korea, can't recall for sure. My 2012 bolt-on IV was made in China, and my 2019 VP and CP were both made in Indonesia.
Nothing like carrying an 85 pound SVT for a good workout.
Looks like a good buy! I've played and had basses with the strings cut short before. You'd be surprised, but they will almost always work fine like that. Not ideal, but workable. They might be a great match and something different you may like. I think you could take them off and carefully get them back on. The real danger is if there is nothing to the length down in the post.
I totally spaced the older Trace Elliot gear.
That head would be something i'd be totally interested in.

Like everyone here, I’m looking forward to hearing what you think of them. I’m particularly curious as to how they will compare to Lollars. Hope one of your ‘birds has some of those? I have a ‘95 and an ‘01 Gibson that both have Lollars, and I have been considering changing to something else in one of them. The only other thing on my radar is Curtis Novak, which I know nothing about, nor has anyone here said they have.
Are these SD’ actually the same as Lulls? I thought I saw that somewhere?

This is 200W(140W through internal speaker) and weighs 34.5 pounds.
And this is 100W and weighs 22#.
And for what I do, they're more than enuff. IF I need more they can be daisy chained for 240W.

I have gone through 4 V4 and V4b, (2 each) and although I wasn’t unhappy with them when used live, they just weren’t really it for me and they had to be pushed right to the edge of sounding OK to keep up. I’m not a real big fan of a lot of speaker breakup, and with the sealed cabs, anything beyond about 2 1/2 was just not a good sound to my ears. I will say, in live situations, on a raised stage, in my three piece band, it was a good match, using a B40 (sealed 4x10) cab. One thing I was going to try, if I didn’t end up selling the most recent V4 I had, one with 6550’s, was having a 27” wide version of the SVT212AV, but designed to be a 2x15” so, somehow make the height and depth measurements allow enough inside volume for two Kappa 15a, and have it be ported. Keeping 27” wide to match the head. THAT, with those highly sensitive 15’s (101db) would probably have made that V4 sound awesome and not have to work to hard at it.

Is there a good, fast way to “darken” a rosewood fretboard? The new black VP I bought has a rather light board on it. The white one I have has a super dark board, and I’d like to get this black ones board there as well.
I had a T-bird with modified bridge set on it. I replaced the chrome bridge set with an original 3 point bridge but was left with 3 screw holes in the body from the tailpiece.
I've been trying to decide what I wanted to do to cover up the holes and I think I have found the best solution. I want a black tailpiece to make my setup look like this:

Somebody posted a link, many pages ago, of a place to buy the claw and bridge set, but I can’t remember if black was an option.
I prefer the response of the 7027 on V4s...they are just plain underpowered imo....100W has stopped being adequate for live bass for decades now unless you are playing a venue small enough to where the V4 won't fit in the first place.....
maybe in a recording studio in front of a U47?...
Better yet, a Fender Twin Reverb or the Univox equivalent. Similar weight, much larger package. Fun for backs of all ages!

Leather dye will do it.
Several Tbird style basses utilize a two piece claw type bridge, but the Greco bass (which is the white bass in the pic you posted) is the only one I’ve seen in black, so probably not many used options out there. Hipshot has an aftermarket claw which I think can be had in black, it won’t look identical to the Epiphone, Greco or Philadelphia Luthier claw but might be close enough, just check the string spacing first.
Hipshot is the only new black one I’ve seen for sale. Occasionally you’ll see a used claw being parted out on ebay, but very very rarely a black one.

I'm going to try to get them in place this week, but I think that I'll be tinkering with pickup height for awhile as well. It took a few tries with the my VP when I put the Gibson pickups in it.
Originally Mike's pickups were made by TV Jones exclusively, (this was after he'd approached Jason Lollar, who declined as at that point he didn't think there would be a market for them!) as time went on demand increased and production lagged, at one point Mike 5-6 T4s in the shop just waiting for pickups. It was decided to have Seymour Duncan take on some of the production to alleviate delivery delays, at this point the pickups were actually offered on Mike's website as an upgrade for your Gibson Bird. I have TV Jones made pickups in my T4 II and my '89 Gibson, I have one at Lull's to pick up later this week as well, it's for my BaCH Non Reverse.
I don't have any basses with Lollars in them to make a comparison but I have to imagine that they would sound quite similar as he's known to make a good pickup and there are a couple guys here that use them and swear by them. Ultimately, if they're known as a good manufacturer I'd say any good repro is likely worth it, be that Lull, Thunderbucker, Seymour Duncan, Lollar etc. I like Gibson's new pickup being used in the current Non Reverse and love the pickup in my Greco II as well, they're slightly different from the others but still so close that we're basically splitting hairs here. The pickups that don't work quite as well for me are the Epi 760's and the EY Guitars, through my rig ( I don't use any pedals etc.) there seems to be something missing, they're not as "full" or "filled out" sounding, with some fundamental and lo - mids not being present. This is just my experience, not a criticism as most folks here have a pretty high opinion of both of these pickups.
