Yah, next to the hi-hat to my right. I just have to watch out at Winters' because there's a support beam to my left. (desguised with various stickers, snow-ski's and cables) Usually avoid hitting it, but have hit my mic-stand boom now & then. Dings happen.

My right ear feels the effects of being left of the drummer's hats and crash. The good news is that there's less headstock aggression. The bad news (or better news depending on your point of view) is that there's still some. The worse offender was the Precision. I don't know what it is about that bass, but its headstock was always on a search and destroy mission. Thunderbirds are much more polite in physical space. Not so much in sonic space.

I play on the side the bass amp lives.

from my experience, most right handed drummers prefer the bassist on their left side…. but then again, who cares what the drummer prefers?…

I don't use effects much, but I usually bring the board for the tuner and wireless. On a 3 set classic rock gig last Saturday, I used the chorus for one song and the octave once to thicken things up when the guitar player went into a big long solo. I'm also working in the 4onthefloor in a few places in my originals band.

My compressor is nearly always on. Preamp is always on. EQ usually on. Overdrive use is rare on Sundays. I typically use phaser on one song of the set, but not always. Volume pedal gets occasional use.

Markbass if the venue has no amp…..500 Watt at about 30 pounds (2 x 10)…very compact...one trip in, one trip out……can’t beat it….

Wow, that Orange has to sound insane. Is that a Bassman to its right? Does a guitarist use that?

Indeed. I wouldn't want to schlep around some of the stuff I move regularly if it had to be done in NYC. Living in New York back when, on West 102nd between Broadway and Amsterdam, the piece of junk upright I had never left the apartment. Getting it around was too big a PITA. I don't actually remember how it got home. Subway, probably. Everything went by subway.

I drove a cab, so I knew what happened in the backs of cabs and also what kinds of people drove cabs and how they drove. No way I would have wanted to be in the back of a cab driven by my cabbie self.

When I was gigging, which all happened in PDX and surrounding areas.
We’d bring all of our own gear minus a PA.
Actually, most places had no house gear what so ever except for a PA.

We were just fine hauling our own stuff.
One van that held it all.

I’d do it again here too. Transportation provided of course, but as Ken said.
Hardly a venue here where you can bring your own gear.

I wonder if anyone can help me. I obtained this short scale Thunderbird build and appears to have the initials MRG or Y and the date 9/19 on the back. It has Hipshot hardware and McNeeley pickups in it. Seems to be a total custom build. The previous owner got it as a trade and has no other information on it. Came from Columbus Ohio. Plays great. Any
information on it would be stellar but I’m stabbing in the dark here.

Yah, I bring my TC Electronics 250w head as a back-up. It's our rehearsal-space keys amp. Small, light and easy to transport.

Yep. The 1x15 is spectacular by itself, and I got the 2x10 on a good deal, but, when I did and A/B comparison, I discovered the 115 was noticeably louder. I did some research and found the OEM drivers in the 210 were Eminence Legend BP102, and at 16ohm s each, weren’t as sensitive as the Eminence Kappa 15a in the 115. I took a chance and swapped to 2 10” for some Beta 10B’s and now both cabs are at about the same loudness, and I think I get some more pronounced low/mids and mids out of the 210. Turned out to be a good fit!
