There are threads asking how to get the Ampeg tone with various other amps and pres. Most recently asking about using a Tonehammer, of all things. By all accounts, the Ampeg pre is very good. My philosophy is get the right tool for what you’re after to start with and quit messing about.

just got a better tektronixl….only paid 100 bucks for the keithley I successfully used for years…

IIRC, I paid about $200 for the refurb Tek scope I've had for ~25 years.

Wow. I can’t imagine anyone thinking a Wattplower is a toy. It is the only non-Tbird on my GAS list. I’m catching Mike’s show 09/06 in Bakersfield.

I see they're still using metric. They'll catch up one day. The ease of dealing with fractions will remedy all that.
