They are. The Gibsons are chintzy. Probably cost a nickel to make. The Epis are three ply pick guard material.
I don't know if I was ever next to one, but even from the pic it looks really big. Kind of F-111 like. Those suckers are monsters.and in my favorite venue so far this year….didn’t know F-102s were this big..first time I see one in person…

It's branded Baycrest - but it's exactly like the Technics I used to have.
I was at my sister's place yesterday and she gave me 2 Duals and a Sansui. I haven't had time to test them.
Yes to Frampton comes Alive, but no to the Woodstock. I'm right on the trailing edge of being a boomer.
Gibson TRCs are really thin. IMO pickguard material looks better and it's much less likely to warp
I spotted a Jimmy Cliff album!
Jimmy Cliff, Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Vaughan (via the Fabulous Thunderbirds). But completely disorganized.
It's a bit of a project to get them organized but worth it. We went alphabetical order by artist for the rock/pop and a separate section for classical.
We somehow lost a box of LPs during one of our moves. My daughter has bought me new copies of Black Sabbath 1 and Paranoid. Hoping I'll get Master of Reality and Vol4 for Christmas.
If you want to sell one of the Duals, let me know. I need a table for the basement music room.
Exactly. But somehow, the prior of the latest Epi I just got managed to let it warp. Never seen that before on an Epi.
No vinyl collection is complete without those two masterpieces.
It's a little strange having new copies. The old ones were quite scratched and worn.
I pretty much learned to play bass by spinning those and Led Zeppelin 2.
As long as you know where to grab for an album, they're organized.
String experiment day: I have never tried SIT Power Steels on a VP. VPs don't really need anything to brighten them up. But, I find PS to not be clanky bright and also have a really big low end, which I thought would benefit a VP. I put a used set on last week and got to use the burst VP today at church. The burst sounded fantastic today. To the point that while playing I would think about how great it was sounding. Fingers, pick, neck only, both pickups...it all sounded wonderful. SITs remind me of Boomers (which also sounded great on the white VP), in that there are ample lows. Boomers seem to have more mids/low mids compared to the Power Steels, but not altogether opposite flavor strings. I've tried strings experiments before and a string sounded really good one week and the next time didn't seem to be as impressive. I'm hoping I'm equally pleased next time the burst gets the call. Very pleasing experience.
