I'm kind of torn...no pun intended.... I kind of like the worn as well, and I'm not one that's fond of relicing at all. I don't think you can go wrong either way. As far as all the scientific consensus goes here, tone has not been found in the grill cloth.No enabling needed on that one. I’ve been looking for one for a couple months. Cool kid Jeff did give me the post purchase thumbs up. Not sure if I’ll replace the grill cloth or just look like I’ve been playing for decades. That will hold up as long as I don’t start playing and destroy the illusion.

Go Frank on scoring the Firebird!I think I'll start with today and will come back with some more pictures when I have rested and am not so loopy feeling.
Frank and I left Hollister at 1:50AM with a very packed Subaru, a couple of changes from what we came to California with. While at More Music, Frank spotted a beautiful Epiphone Joe Bonamassa Sig Firebird and it came home with us (I'll shoot some pics Thursday) and I decided to leave the MPC Outlaw with Chuck for awhile, we had spoken about it and while the GTG was fun there really wasn't time for him to really get to play that bass.......
The traffic gods smiled upon us, we were almost to Redding, CA by sunrise.
I don't mind saying that it makes me tear up when I think about what we all just did, words fail me.
Thank you all for making the club the exceptional thing that it is, and of course Thank you @ Chucky Stiletti and his lovely wife, Rosa for opening up their lovely home to us.

Now you're just making stuff up. This has not been confirmed by the experts who get money from such confirmations, so it can't possibly be true.
I think George can design an experiment to prove or disprove the theory. Anyone here have an Ampeg with replaced tolex?
New Thunderbird Day!
@Stealth57 did me a solid and picked this up for me from a San Francisco Bay Area seller a couple months ago. I finally picked it up from him at the GTG.
2005 Gibson Studio. It has a Badass II bridge instead of the Gibson high mass bridge it originally came with (they did not use the three point on the Studio). Other differences include the narrow headstock and a slab (no belly cut) body. It is a set neck, not a neck though. TBird+ pickups. It has been played. The body shows some wear and crazing, but no exposed wood. The fretboard is dry and a little dirty, and the frets need a good clean and polish. When I do that, I’ll check for wear, high or loose frets etc. Nice properly finished fretwork with no sprout. The strings are very dead. It will be getting 50-105 SIT Power Steels. I classify it as being in good condition. The setup is a freaking mess. It’ll get my MCF Custom Setup (TM pending) over the next few days.
The Gibson case is also in good condition. Except the seller didn’t know the lock combo so he cut the prongs on the latch. I’ll worry about that later. Actually much later. I’ll file that project as one to be done at @Gaolee speed.
The only other thing to mention at this point is that it has obviously sat in a closet the last years. So I have rectify a subtle musty smell.
It’s a great bass that I got for an excellent price. I’m pleased. Here she is. More pics will come as I get into the cleaning and setup process.
