There is a liner of black foam inside of the "U" so the neck doesn't sit directly on the metal.I like the J hook holding the Embassy neckI use those for all kinds of stuff.

I think we determined a while back it's easier to cut the solder on metal covers with a dremel, but I can't remember who did that. Might have been Dave troubleshooting a pickup issue with his VP?How did you guess?
Not me. I just unsoldered the lump of solder that was grounding the braid to the back of the pickup. I found the issue with the screw grounding the hot lead before I had to open the can.

BTW, I dialed the '05 Studio a little more after letting the strings settle in. Played it for about four hours yesterday during 'Shed Sunday." You would absolutely love the tone it puts out. The pickups in it are pretty special.

I'm thinking black chrome, although powder coated black would match the black bridge better.
TB+ dimensions are bigger, sure the Thundebuckers won't fit the black case as is?How did you guess?
Can a powder coat be done without disassembling? If so, that would probably be the best way to go. They would look great.
I'd be getting new metal pickup covers.
That NR in the correct sparkly color is also on Reverb. I think this opens the possibility of talking him down since a local sale won't take a cut of his price nor will he have to ship.
