Thunderbird Club

Looks kind of beat up to me for $9k.

LOL - $9K is the new $4K.
Seems like just a couple of years ago you could find the vintage NR and Reverse birds in this condition (albeit not in a rare color like this one) for between $4K and $6K all day long. Now almost everything is $8K to $12K.

10 years ago or more, there was a '64 or so reverse with a headstock repair at Emerald City Guitars for something like $1500. That's how I remember it. I couldn't understand how any bass with no serial number would be worth anything. Oh, well.

That's been up for awhile now. Not in this lifetime….

this kinda poopie makes me want to stop looking for a II…

is that Dave's (Handloff) Peavey?….talk about a J wannabe…:D

I didn't play it, probably should have......But you know, Queen loves her Thunderbirds.

No kidding. I guess I'll send the original off as a template if I ever get a new one for the Flamingo, which is a '91. I wonder why they are different. Aside from Gibson being Gibson.

Yep, that's my '95 he's got. I had a bunch made for my Gibsons and Eppi's and I thought I was covered, until I tried putting one of the single ply black Gibby ones on my '95.

So I had to buy another '01 for the PG that didn't fit the '95. :D

It seems the folks at Gibson and Epiphone come up with a new pickguard and TRC for most every production run.

The 2018 Epi IV pickguard/TRC I did for Dave don't match Marshall's Silverburst Custom Shop.
Interestingly the CP and VP have the same TRC, but different pickguards.

I can work from a paper tracing or pdf. With pdfs, we just need to ensure there is no resizing.

I have a HS Supertone 2-point bridge for my soon-to-be VS Fenderbird.... first time I'll be installing one of those, only used the 3 pts before.
Stuff I should know ?
The travel distance of the saddles isn't quite as long as you would think at first glance, so just check the range before you place the bridge.

My place of employment is on a mental wellness campaign.
They are encouraging people to take a pause and do something to relax like listening to music for a half hour. Or taking a walk outside. Or maybe doing stretching exercises.
After attending that class I decided to do a little bit or remodeling to my humble little office.

I'm sure as hell not putting out a yoga mat. So here's what I came up with for my mental breaks. Seems to be working so far. :)

Pay no attention to the plastic Strat and LP.
Those were brought to me by the IT department for repair.
Cheers!
