Has anyone ever bought a bass from any of these “Ships from Japan” sellers? If so, how was the experience?

I question because I see the same instrument listed, under separate listing for different prices, and looking closely at the photos, I can see it’s the same photos used in different listings, at different prices. That makes me cautious.

multiple locals list an item that is in a local shop.

If you buy it they rush to get it from the shop.

Common practice... I'd go by feedback AND listed price.

got my greco from a guy in hawaii that buys them from japan and passes the saving on to YOU!


IF two people buy it, the slowest re-seller will cancel the sale...

My '77 Greco came from Japan, I don't recall the specific seller but it was on ebay. I paid all of 700.00 for the bass and 150.00 to air freight it to Seattle. No problems, and it has been a fantastic bass, no regrets!

Short of the real deal, it's next best.

My '77 Greco came from Japan, I don't recall the specific seller but it was on ebay. I paid all of 700.00 for the bass and 150.00 to air freight it to Seattle. No problems, and it has been a fantastic bass, no regrets!

Short of the real deal, it's next best.

Had a great rehearsal last night, our original guitarist has rejoined the band and everything just jelled really well, instead of dreading our very big Halloween show, we are now all super excited to hit it. I cautioned our singer about bumping into me and used the '64 with the Trace Elliott - All I can say is, Damn! Its just so good!
The only downside will be giving our (now former) guitar player the news that they're no longer in the band........

That's great news! If the exiting guitarist is surprised by the news, then it's even more confirmation it's the right decision.

I bought one, a Les Paul bass, from Japan via eBay. No problems, it was exactly as described and pictured. After that, prices on all music stuff went sky high and I never purchased from Japan again.

Great shot! Yeah it's hard to let people go, but it's a cover band. Hopefully they don't take it too personally.

Yer LP bass is particularly heavy-for use as a club(wouldn't wanna risk damaging a 'Bird).

I played a fundraiser yesterday for a local Search & Rescue organization. The drummer is recovering from Covid, but was feeling pretty good and thought he’d make it. But apparently he pressure washed a hole in his foot on Saturday… so it was a trio.

I think you should just buy it. I didn't read the info, but that's as low a price as I recall. If you don't like it, you should be able to flip it and make a little for your troubles. But I think you should keep it. I also think it's calling to you to be rescued and give it a worthy home.

Long story, short. After 57 years of plucking the bass, one left hand surgery with a year if physical therapy, I have come to the end of the road. Before I eBay/Craigslist them, I thought I should see if there is any interest in the group.

I believe George has. IIRC, he had a positive experience without issues.
