Thunderbird Club

Is that from Philadelphia Luthiers? I had though about getting one but I’m wondering if when installed on certain basses, where the bridge saddles need to be pretty high, the string(s) will hit the edge of the bridge on the claw side before getting to the saddles.

It is from Philadelphia Luthiers.
But you do bring up a good point.
I’m no expert at all but I’d think there is a bit of play as to where the claw will be mounted in relation to that string angle going over the back of the bridge.
This bridge has a little more travel for the saddles. So if mounted properly.
I’m sure the strings will have enough clearance from the back of the bridge.
I’ll go over this with my tech.

For sure, but that gold finish on the Anniversary would be tough to match. I saw one in a store a while back that had a big chip repaired on the headstock and it wasn't pretty.

Oh, I agree with that.
That’s a bass you want leave stock or use a HipShot or Babicz.
At least with my Epiphone, what ever funky thing i have done, I’ll be fine with.

The second pic is my '89, I bought it new back then, originally it had all black hardware which was changed out for chrome - certain individuals from "The Dudepit" were responsible for this depravity. With Mike Lull pickups I realized I could get very close to a real '64 in terms of sound, yet still have a bass that I could take to most any show. The yellowing finish has really grown on me, I never thought it would.

'89 is 34 years ago now, so it's fairly vintage these days. That's pretty shocking.

So where can I get one of these sets? And here's a pic of my 50th Anniversary Thunderbird, I'll take a good one of my Rex Brown and share that here - so can I join this club?View attachment 5202884
You even have a shoe and a toe in the picture. You are obviously one of us.

On a new build you do have some wiggle room to move the claw back I’d guess.

I really like the look of the two piece. If I ever decide to change colors on one of my current Gibsons, I think I’d prep it to use one of those bridges and probably move the neck pickup back closer to the bridge. No as far as a VP, but almost.

Part of my modding with the Epiphone is repositioning both pick ups

I’m 37 pages or so behind since I’ve been a bit busy.
Congratulations to your grandmother. I’ve outlived both of my maternal grandparents at 63 and neither died violently or in an accident.

I had a reunion with my college hippie friends. I was 40-50 pages behind, so I just time traveled a few days into the more recent past.

For heavens sake I'm botching up this quoting lark like there's no tomorrow! Yes, def a typo, should have been '13
I certainly like mine and the Tbird+ pickups in it. I have +s in the ‘05 Studio and the ‘11 Short Scale. Three different basses.

The necks on the ‘13NRs are chunkier than necks on the Gibson reverses. It’ll be interesting to see how you like it.
