So
A few(20?)pages back I said I'd had a set of 7ender 7250s on the 67 NR. Nope(my bad). 9050s. Still have 'em in my collection of used strings.
However.
Did a little maintenance on the 67, which required removing the SIT Power Flats(yes, I saved them)so I could correctly treat the fretboard-and polish the bass while I was at it. Decided to try a set of medium tension EBCFs-45/65/80/100 just for S&G. They're on, purple silks and all, tuned-slightly sharp-and sounding good. At least to my questionable hearing ability. Gig Friday night. OJT*.

This seems like the place to ask, can anyone tell me when Gibson went back to rosewood from ebony on their fingerboard? Thanks!

A good question, I went and looked at some Reverb listings and it seems at least through 2004 ebony boards were used. But, that's just me looking at Reverb listings :)

Since there was a question on fret boards, I thought I would throw in some photos. In order:
2010 Epi Pro IV
2014 Epi CP
2015 Gibson
2017 Epi VP
2018 Epi IV
2021 Epi VP (lighter than 2017)

My 2013 CP in that last pic I posted has a very dark fretboard, what I'm assuming is Rosewood? It's almost as dark as the ebanol fretboard on my multi-scale Ibanez.
But, AFAIK, Epiphone never used Ebony on their Thunderbirds like Gibson did?

I would say that's correct. I've never seen or heard of an Epiphone with an ebony fingerboard.

In the late 70's and early 80's I lived on the Oregon Coast out of Tillamook. Oceanside and Cape Meares. We used to get Oysters by the Bushel and roast them in the shell over a fire pit. Melted Garlic Butter in a shell for Dipping. You could get them in any size and were very fresh right out of Tillamook Bay. Quite a few Beverages were involved.

Gibson does what Gibson does, mere mortals cannot predict.

across the board a lot of Gibsons are rosewood and once in a while they grace us with ebony for certain years or certain runs, I don’t think it’s predictable.

my2004 Flying V is ebony, and I think most of my other Gibsons are rosewood, except for the rosewood scare of a couple years ago and prior where they did some weird poopie, like richlite and torrified granadillo (terrified granola) (turpentined armadillo)

He started winding down about 10 years ago. And many more recent scenes were shot with just him on camera talking to a double for whoever he was conversing with. He was by all accounts a good guy who had an amazing career. A true pro.
Including theater *after* becoming a tv and movie personality. I saw him in “Mousetrap” in Atlanta in (IIRC) 1975.
