Interesting. Thanks for looking that up. On all Gibsons?A good question, I went and looked at some Reverb listings and it seems at least through 2004 ebony boards were used. But, that's just me looking at Reverb listings![]()

Got me to thinking (poorly) about a BBQ themed Thunderbird. "BBQ Bird."Round Rock as it’s close to our place. That way we got extra hang time, and Thunderbirds were involved.
Thought for a second Chuck was trying to imitate Ken.Chucky finally gets his hands on a VP!View attachment 5203481
Very clever and looks great.Holy happy horse poopie, the B-16 bigsby is a shaging 50’s engineering marvel, like the shaging Edsel…
Gargantuan pain in the ass to get set initially, but so far I’m liking it….
I’m still waiting on my headstock decals so I can finish paint/clear, and I have the treble strings set up at the nut and saddle, but I’m going to bed and I’ll do the bass strings and finish wiring tomorrow.

That's really nice, and completely acceptable to me. But probably a lot harder for paint matching on burst and metallic ones. I guess ideally you do this along with a refin.A little something for Jeff.......
Note the filled post holes.

She has tropical ancestors and is part reptile when it comes to heat. She will bask while I'm melting. It's amazing. The kid has my reaction to heat more than hers. I sure wouldn't subject a Thunderbird to the kind of tropical jungle heat and humidity that we have encountered there. She's tough. That would be like breathing water.
I have not tried the Rock Brights, or anything fusion wound (to my knowledge or so marked). I like everything I have retried of late (thanks to our Dear Leader, Ken), and they have found homes on basses. SITs descriptions are often lacking and at times unclear, or were, that's my only issue. They would do well to have someone clean up and clarify their bass string's descriptions. Possibly it's better now. All that to say I think they would be nicde strings. Not sure on the price as I have never looked, but doesn't sound like a bad price. I generally find their nickels or SS for around $17 and at times less shipped on Reverb.I saw some of you chat up SIT strings. Saw these on sale. I honestly don't know if it's a good price.View attachment 5203845 View attachment 5203846View attachment 5203845

Typo? Do you mean a reverse ‘15 like this?
View attachment 5203065
Or a ‘13 NR like this?

Both are great Thunderbirds. Different from each other. And pretty darn rare.
What is this color? I really like it. The fretless 'Bird is going to get refinished green. That color really looks good. I was thinking about late '60s Chevrolet Rallye Green. Your bass is close to that color, but it looks just a little darker and bluer and would look even better on a Thunderbird.
usuallly takes more creativity than filling new holes…Still looks awesome to me V.
My tech and I will have to get creative with filling the old holes.
I’ll save everyone some time here
(Ahem!)
