Agree - I don't use covers on my T-birds and otherwise for me it has to do with just where the covers are. A P-bass bridge cover is mostly ok as it doesn't restrict available playing space. A J ashray looks classy but is for a photo-op only - takes up way too much valuable real-estate. I want all available playing space from bridge to neck but, on my Bond Girl bass, I have a J neck pu cover ...purely for looks! (see, I admit it!) ...but that's the only bass I allow such...

Thank God for variety. I hate the look of covers and tug bars, as well as their lack of usefulness to me...but there are a lot of members here that I respect the opinions of that like them. That is as it should be, or we'd have dull conversations agreeing with eachother on every topic.

I love 12's with bass!!! I just recently sold an older Genz 212XB as part of a package deal. I did not want to do that but it made the deal work. I also used to own a Peavey 412TVX (or something like that) that was stupid loud!!! It was glorious I have been eye-balling another newer Genz 212 XB and the Ampeg 212 to run with my old SVT head. There is a SWR 212 cab for sale locally that the owner tried to trade me for my Epi Firebird. it's only an 8 ohm cab and my SVT only has a switch that goes between 4 or 2 ohms.

Would suggest a twelve inch club but suspect it might be closed down quite quickly...

I just bough a set of those for the epi bird, don't know if the will work for me but the Looks defo do, if they are poopie I will send the covers to a custom pickup dude and have some pickups made...

When the physical board turns up, I'll put up a picture. Pedals will be pretty sparse - wireless receiver/tuner -> fDeck HPF -> Aguilar ToneHammer -> amplifier. I already have a power supply that runs 'em all. It could run more. There are more lurking in the closet, probably multiplying in there while I'm not looking. Fuzz, bass wah, slap-back, mild overdrive, and a tremolo/compressor. But, I mostly use those with guitar, not bass. The real problem is oil-can addictions. I have a Fender Dimension Sound-Expander and two Morely Rotating Wah pedals. None of 'em work right, which means I'll probably end up using all three to build one that does work. Then sell off the rest cheap. If you haven't seen or heard a Morley Rotating Wah, you are missing out. I thought it would sound amazing with the upright, bowed. I had one that worked to test the theory, and boy was I ever disappointed. It sounded awful! Oh, well. It's a fantastic, absolutely unique gurgly underwater echo with guitar. But they are about the size of a Volkswagen and all chrome. With their own A/C plug. I'm pretty sure those are breeding in there. Fortunately the gestation period is long enough for me to explain how another one turned up when I already have some that kinda work or not.

Hell, I was reading up on how to build a plate reverb the other day just because it looks like fun. Maybe it's the air here but pedals don't seem to breed. There's an MXR Micro Amp in an Ikea gingersnap tin in the wardrobe which hasn't reproduced yet (I do check it every few days).

Working out what to do for a pedal board took quite a while. They were either too big, too small, or too expensive, and the preamp had to be situated so it was easy to add to/remove from the signal path depending on whether or not it is in use (ie mainly not). The DualLock ended up costing more than the chopping board.

Modulus Graphite was doing some stuff with Cedar, Oak, and a few other oddball woods. I suppose, with a rigid enough armature, you could use anything. I think the deal is rigidity though, which is the property that keeps the energy in the string, and not damping off to Dull Thud Land.

I'm not a luthier so you might want to pose your question in their forum but I believe you can make a decorative top for your instrument out of just about any wood. I think most folks end up saturating the Burl in epoxy or urethane or some other stabilizer to harden any punky areas and fill the voids. So yes, I suspect you can use that Burl wood for a decorative cap top to a solid body firm wood (maple, mahogany, ash, alder, etc).

I haven't been ignoring you guys, my trip Home(Alaska) was far more adventurous than anticipated.

What you guys sugest is prettyninline with what I was thinking. I'm kinda itching a bit to cut that thing down but its on my sisters property so I have plenty of time. Probably give it a couple years to mature.

There's nothing like a Tel-Ray oil can. They are expensive, even if they don't work, and then you have to fix them. The oil can leak out if the lid isn't tight enough. When the oil dries, as it has on most of them, it requires complete disassembly and careful cleaning, because the sound is dependent on an anodized aluminum disk as well as the oil and wipers. The disk and wipers can both be damaged by ham fisted cleaning. But, they are worth it for guitar in my opinion. There's nothing else that sounds like them. My brother has an emulator that has its own charm, but it is not the same. An oil can doesn't sound so good on bass. That doesn't keep me from scrounging for them all the time. I'm hoping to get to the point that I'm fairly competent at rebuilding and repairing them. It's a useless skill, but oh, well.

This would really be a question of ethics. The greatness of our country is held in the greatnes of its people. Counterfiting anything is ethically wrong imo. I hope you not considering it.

I will leave it to others to address ethics and build quality. I will address copyright. The Gibson name and logo are trademarks held by Gibson. One of the functions of customs is to protect intellectual property holders (trademarks, copyrights, patents). So, if the package is inspected, the customs officer will see a counterfeit product and it will be seized. How much risk of seizure is there? Hard to estimate, but CBP does actively look for counterfeit goods Priority Trade Issue: Intellectual Property Rights | U.S. Customs and Border Protection and makes small seizures San Juan CBP seizes 20 counterfeit luxury watches | U.S. Customs and Border Protection

So, if you buy from these guys, or even buy used and import, there is a risk that the instrument will be seized. Someone will be out cash for that and I suspect it will be the one who handed over their credit card information.

Yep, if its inspected and they realize its counterfit its gone and ao is the money, because the buyer was stupid.

I use 15s and an 18 inch sometimes. Those clubs would never get started.

They used to, now they must have realized it won't fit anything but a bolt on Epi. I posted pix a few million posts ago.

An old (rectangular) Epi case will fit just about all Reverse Gibby/Epis. Don't know about the new tapered ones.

....And that's not an illusion. The BiCen is the longest Reverse bird of all and the most prone to dive IMO

I took my wife to a specialist yesterday and the recommendation from "the team" was full removal as opposed to removal of only half of her thyroid. A decision has to be made and only she can make it but I've told her that I'd go for full removal.
