FWIW, I find the Mesa/Boogie Diesel 2x15 to be a surprisingly clear, articulate and full-range cab. I fell in love with the first one I heard, but didn't have a vehicle that could transport it (more on that, below). I later picked up this beauty, and it still sounds great:

That Trace Elliot 2x15 is also a great-sounding cab. A bit more mid-forward, but somewhat "tunable" with the port plugs.

Your SVT is buried in the corner, why?

When I started playing again I intended to get one or two Ampeg PF115 cabs.

I bought a Class D head (PF500) head because I could use it without a load and plug in headphones. After deciding to go with a single 4Ω cab, the options in my price range were limited and the SVT212AV has been stellar. Of course it's all moot after the PF500 died again and was replaced with a valve head.

C'est la vie.

I have a bit of a sentimental thing for 12s. The first cab I ever played through was a 212 and the gnarliest, beastiest cab was a 412 - it was a complete monster.

I guess I'm back in the club.... for some reason I parted out and sold off the single Bisonic pickup ThunderSquier I built and I kinda miss it. Now I have an EGC neck on the way and found this painted white guy locally with it's case for only 300 bones. I remember the green T-bird stock pickups sounding like dogsh1t before converting it, but this white one actually sounds pretty good. Gonna be an EGCBird soon.

You'll be fine, I stopped after four. Do you have a tuner? Also treat yourself to a decent power supply and mount it wherever it fits. That will be a top class fly-rig. And ... where are the pictures?

When the physical board turns up, I'll put up a picture. Pedals will be pretty sparse - wireless receiver/tuner -> fDeck HPF -> Aguilar ToneHammer -> amplifier. I already have a power supply that runs 'em all. It could run more. There are more lurking in the closet, probably multiplying in there while I'm not looking. Fuzz, bass wah, slap-back, mild overdrive, and a tremolo/compressor. But, I mostly use those with guitar, not bass. The real problem is oil-can addictions. I have a Fender Dimension Sound-Expander and two Morely Rotating Wah pedals. None of 'em work right, which means I'll probably end up using all three to build one that does work. Then sell off the rest cheap. If you haven't seen or heard a Morley Rotating Wah, you are missing out. I thought it would sound amazing with the upright, bowed. I had one that worked to test the theory, and boy was I ever disappointed. It sounded awful! Oh, well. It's a fantastic, absolutely unique gurgly underwater echo with guitar. But they are about the size of a Volkswagen and all chrome. With their own A/C plug. I'm pretty sure those are breeding in there. Fortunately the gestation period is long enough for me to explain how another one turned up when I already have some that kinda work or not.

Why an SUV in particular?

They tend to have worse mileage than comparable cars, are harder to park, and don't really have that much more storage space than a wagon or a minivan.

It's my daughters preference. She likes being up high enough to see cars around her vs riding in my cars where you look out the side windows at other peoples hubcaps.

I love 12's with bass!!! I just recently sold an older Genz 212XB as part of a package deal. I did not want to do that but it made the deal work. I also used to own a Peavey 412TVX (or something like that) that was stupid loud!!! It was glorious I have been eye-balling another newer Genz 212 XB and the Ampeg 212 to run with my old SVT head. There is a SWR 212 cab for sale locally that the owner tried to trade me for my Epi Firebird. it's only an 8 ohm cab and my SVT only has a switch that goes between 4 or 2 ohms.

Oh, man, I'm headed down the shiny box path. I just bought a pedal board to hold the wireless receiver, fDeck HPF, and ToneHammer. Please tell me that's not a gateway drug. Please tell me that pedals don't breed like bunnies in a closet and turn into layer after layer of fuzz, chorus, distortion... I was so happy with just a cord for so long.

Totally is.

The limiting factor for me is the size of the board itself. When I got up to four pedals, I got a board, and ever since then, that has determined my pedal setup, as there's only so much space.

Most pedals I ever had on it was seven. Currently I have six, as I used to have two different fuzz pedals on my board but got a custom one made that did the job of both.

No regular overdrive pedals, though, because I use my amp for my basic overdrive sound.

I have one pedal, and it lives, usually, stuck somewhere on my amp with Velcro. The SanAmp VT pedal is always on when in use. And lately it's been sitting at home in it's metal box...
I have a clearly non-addictive personality.

I have a few pedals and want to put together a small board but the idea of one more thing to set up at a gig is a turn off for me. If I do it the board would include my Audio-Technica System 10 stomp box wireless, Korg tuner, and my old Boss BF2 flanger that I would swap in/out with a DOD Chorus. I have a Joyo Ultimate Drive I never use but I do want a quality envelope filter. I thought once I started I wouldn't be able to control myself but I never got bit by the bug.

yep - me too. That's why bridge covers exist! Do other (T-bird) players here share this bridge pu-centric position when playing?

I do as well, but without the covers... I do a lot of palm muting when I play, so covers would be in the way...

Agree - I don't use covers on my T-birds and otherwise for me it has to do with just where the covers are. A P-bass bridge cover is mostly ok as it doesn't restrict available playing space. A J ashray looks classy but is for a photo-op only - takes up way too much valuable real-estate. I want all available playing space from bridge to neck but, on my Bond Girl bass, I have a J neck pu cover ...purely for looks! (see, I admit it!) ...but that's the only bass I allow such...


Can't really see it (pu cover) in this pic - but you get the idea why looks would be a consideration...

I actually never palm mute on bass, so covers are fine for me. Fender style would get in the way when changing strings, though.
