Thanks for the pics. Are those pickups microphonic in your bass? I have seen a couple of people complain about that online.
Yeah, microphonic. Do you recall where else you saw mention of this prob? Thanks.

Do you use pics with your fretless basses as well?Picks. Treble and bass electric geetars I like the same picks.
Almost tied for first are the Herco Holy Grail flex 75’s and Celluloid 7ender 351 Heavies.
I do like the regular flex 75’s but not as much. I have about a half dozen of those red 1.10 dunlops they have a little divot in the middle to help retention and they are quite sharp and seem to sharpen up with use, I have all the half dozen on my DCboid and I think once I wear them out or lose them I don’t think I’ll buy more.
acoustic I like the 7ender medium celluloid and the Herco flex 50.
I have about a gross and a half of the checker 7ender heavies so I’m certain that’s a lifetime supply, I could stand to buy a few more of the Herco holy grail’s.
My acoustics that I don’t play often have enough 7ender mediums and flex 50’s in their cases to last a lifetime.
I did like some of the Dunlop tortex picks but not enough to keep a stock of them.

It's a beauty way to go!
Met a nice guy from Edmonton today as we were leaving the beach place. I mentioned I lived in Bako, and he wanted to talk about the Bakersfield Condors, the main feeder team to the Oilers. He knew the name of every player for the Condors over the last several years. You Canadians. Super nice. And you love your hockey.
The Epiphone Thunderbird Pro basses are Neck Through and can be had for £250 - £500 here in the UK. Great modding platforms. But beware, the electronics suck and you’ll need some lightweight tuners PLUS moving the neck strap pin to the rear of the neck.Thunderbird Bass | Mojo Pickups
Was browsing for a glued in/properly raked neck Thunderbird copy to play with/mod/refin and these pups turned up in the search. I'm not sure I've read of anyone having tried them - they look to be made in the Philly Luths covers/rings but they also supply shims! Interesting . . .
Anyone used them?
Also, I believe Greco/Orville have glued necks with the proper rake angle, are there any other contenders? Folk seem to want as much for those two brands as a Gibson over here at the mo and since brexpoopie it's not even worth looking to ship from ANYWHERE!
Or am I gonna have to make them myself?

Gibson, Orville, Greco. None are inexpensive here unless the seller doesn’t know what current pricing is.Thunderbird Bass | Mojo Pickups

While not “microphonic,” the DeCola’s in my ‘15 took some trial and error to get the height set to avoid a chorus effect. But I also dealt with the same issue on my ‘05 Studio, particularly with the E string, and its Tbird+ pickups. My string action is set pretty low on both of them.Yeah, microphonic. Do you recall where else you saw mention of this prob? Thanks.
This is a great history lesson. Good stuff to know. You da Man!and that brings up an excellent (controversial) point, same happened to me with an Ampeg PF-500 driving a fridge at a local rehearsal spot recently…..keep in mind, (fmi) nothing at a 60$/hr rehearsal room is gonna sound decent unless brand new or recently serviced, that stuff takes a serious beating……more importantly, although not advertised, class D stuff’s lifetime is more directly affected by semiconductor aging, that although real across all semiconductors plays more of a role in Class D gear MTBF (mean time between failures) and EOL (end of life) …..iow, to get that much performance from ever shrinking packages one must push semiconductors to a point where a smaller than previously considered tolerance drift over time will result in shorter product lifetime….since warranty periods are usually a year long, this guarantees proper operation for at least that period of time….not unlike older technology where caps and tubes have to be replaced after a period of time, miniaturization has made it to where you just replace the whole Class D head….(think iPhones)….so, moral of the story, don’t buy used Class D stuff…… all that said….it could have been a blocked fan, seen that happen as well……
That's a cool aircraft! It is! Cool, lanky Canadian one!

I think digress is a very fluid term here and has a wide range of meanings that have not been fully explored to the fullest potential yet......love our ability to quickly digress….was it supposed to be cold and fried?…..
No leather in mine. Light blue pimp-like velour! The inside was so pretty (for the time), that's what people talked about the most.Ah. Rich Corinthian leather. Da plane! Da Plane!
@Basvarken does some very nice builds. If you're going to DIY, it's well worth it to check out his methods.Thunderbird Bass | Mojo Pickups

I'm not surprised a guy from Edmonton would know that stuff. Hockey is very much embedded in our culture, especially in places with serious winters. These lines from Fireworks by the Tragically Hip make me smile every time:Met a nice guy from Edmonton today as we were leaving the beach place.
