Prolly don't need 'red' as it will be in your face. Apparently the grey catbird has also been called a mocking bird.

My bad - was associating the V with VFL ... one of the many sports I don't watch, although most of the ones I do watch, I don't watch as they have been sold off to pay-to-view, or are only shown when Straya is in it - I mean why would anybody be interested in the All Blacks vs Springboks eh? **BORING**

Nah, Katbird is enough. Especially as this will likely be the second to last bass I ever buy - 1 x Bird, 1 x Katbird, 1 x EB3L = no more GAS.

What are your favourite strings for T-birds? I've only ever really strung mine with steel ernie balls (except for once with cobalts; it was good, but treaded on the tones of my jazz more than I wanted). Generally I'm using mine for open mic night gigs; classic rock, bit of funky/dubby stuff, blues rock etc.
DR Highbeams or Black Beauties are my most commonly used string for my Birds.
I got Black Beauties just cause they're "stealthy" on my matte-black bird, but they actually sound pretty good. I get regular props on the bass' sound, and I have to agree it's delivering. Strings are a big part of that.
Dean markley nickelsteels, but only because I already had a couple sets in the guages I needed for drop c. Works for the soad tribute, I have been soaking them in DNA when they go dead (which does not take long). I put some sit power steels on my goth but have yet to plug it in and compare the tone to the sunburst with nickelsteels.
Next I plan to try will be Ernie ball steel slinkys. I like the punch and longer life of steel, but have to custom order sets, the closest off the shelf set that works for me is ghs heavy boomers, but ideally I like 115 90 70 50. The boomers have a 95. Power slinkys are too floppy on the 110 and a bit tight on the 75 and 55.
Leaves me 2 options, BSO or try to get endorsement.
My goth came with labella Rx steel rounds, they had a good punchy rock tone, for the extremely short time before doing my drop c setup the night I got the bass.
