Thunderbird Club

Nice. I fitted some Alnico 8 Thunderbird Humbuckers that kick out around 13k. Pretty hot, but more articulate and less muddy than the Gibson originals.

@kyral210

Are you saying here the you purchased Gemini Devastators? I’ve been sitting on their page and come very close to pulling the trigger on a set of Dominators, hoping they will be a little different than my other vintage style pickups (Lollars, Novaks, Thunderbucker 66, and the Gibson re-issues), but not looking for something drastically different. Thinking the A8 blades and slightly hotter DCR will make the Dominators have a little different tone going for them. Most likely whatever I choose (Dominator or Devastator) will start in my black VP, and since the neck pup is closer to the bridge, maybe a bit hotter set (Devastator) will beef it up ??? I just don’t want to end up with the mudbucker squawk like I had in a ‘73 Telecaster bass I had. Of course those read 27k…. and there were two of them in that modded Tele.

Since I have so many that are probably very similar in build and output, maybe the Devastators are a good choice for a change up.

Decisions decisions…

My namesake. My propensity for not saying much and turning red when I got mad is what got me dubbed Hoss way back in 1976, that and picking up a co working and tossing him in the flap bin when he pissed me off. In the deep recesses of the HOG basement was the flap bin a metal side room in the corner where all the cardboard was knocked down and compacted.

In that case, I meant to say, Mr. Hoss!
