So if I am correct, amps on stage are for the player to hear their sound directly/physically and what's heard in the audience is entirely FOH. Or a bit of both for the player... which is what I'm familiar with. Or.., were they wearing ear monitors where what the player "hears" is the mix in their ears?
no ear monitors…….no 7enders either….Rick and Les Paul recording…..sound is truly crystal clear…. perfect venue for this…

Yes. EHX's description is:

Dedicated attack expander allows your bass to cut through any live performance with razor’s edge control. Adjustable attack bleeds bite with suede.
My goal when I got it was to get a more pick-like attack with fingers.
How well does it do that?

whatever... if it does something that aids ones sound regardless of what it's called.
I’ll see your whatever and raise you one “who cares if we call it ebony or rosewood?”)

The functional opposite of a compressor is an expander. Knowing the name makes it easier to discuss, research, etc.

who says Rickys are a thing of the past?…..
Steve Hackett at Golden State Theater in Monterey…….:hyper:

Steve Hackett. Damn. I would like to be there.

I may take another go at finding a Ric. I couldn’t find one I felt right with when I went trying them five or so years ago. With the ‘23’s, they supposedly revised the 4001 neck profile.

Count me as another fan of both Rick and Birdperson... sorry Bird. The Bird is 2 universes more comfortable to play than the Rick to me, though. And it must have 5x the output of a Rick. I like the stereo Ric-O-Sound output, though.
Oh, and I love me some Genesis, too - curiously I like them in both versions.
Well congratulations then! I was thinking either your wife doesn’t pay attention, she’s a saint, or both.

My wife didn’t say anything for several days about the Carbine in the bedroom until the other night when she asked me to please turn it off before I got into bed. She’s a coming around.
I thought it was about his wife not liking the Bird look. Well my girlfriend doesn't, but I convinced her that I'd get a comfortable, versatile and reliable bass in my situation (my only daily driver Rick broke).
Other than the modernist Gibsons (which I love but she doesn't), we share a pretty similar aesthetics towards guitars. We both like a Casino, 60's Telecaster, Gretsch archtops, her ES-335 and 214ce, Höfner, Viola, and my Rick, but not a Bacchus (which I loaned from a friend while waiting for the Bird), EB-3L, or Dreadnought or Gretsch acoustics.

Wow, what an awesome theater! It reminds me a lot of our Castro theater, when they did it right - (the Castro theater is primarily for films)

The Arlington in Santa Barbara is another cool theatre. Some major acts are playing it now. We saw Patton there in ‘70.
It’s California Mission style.

I owned a nice '85 4003 (with the tr at the heal, 2-section pg and two wood screws through the bridge) - I played it for a year or two occasionally... it was ok, and then I sold it.

I love the old classic theaters - whenever I'm in them I feel at home.

BOSS Compression/Sustainer ... it's like putting a humidifier in the room with a de-humidifier and letting them fight it out. (Steven Wright) I set the level full up and the sustain full off - attack at 12:00. It's always on.
