Thunderbird Club

More Acoustic amp saturation from early '70s Miles Davis... (Micheal Henderson on Fender Jazz bass) I hope his "stacked" 18" folded cab was secured! :jawdrop:

I know really well how heavy those are. I pity whoever had to lift that thing. The sound projects in a fairly narrow beam. Putting them on top of each other makes no sense. The narrow beam is a big drawback of a folded horn.

Whoever was in a direct line in front of those two cabinets would have had an internal organ altering experience.

Happy Thanksgiving to all my American friends!
My wife and I cooked a pork shoulder. Neither of us much likes turkey. We have been doing this almost 40 years. Cuban friends in New York were astonished when we started. Apparently pork on holidays is a Cuban thing that non-Cubans don't do, so far as they were concerned.

The aftermath… this is only 1/3 of the tamales I plan on producing this weekend. … I ate at least a dozen since 3pm today…

All of the rest of the pork is cooked and seasoned, just need to mix up another 40lbs of masa …

You ate a dozen tamales in only three to four hours? That’s got to be a club record. I hope you make it to the morning.

Yes, I'm aware of the physical power of these cabs. I wish I could have attended those early '70s Miles Davis shows -

We do Turkey, Pork and Ham for Christmas each year. Chicken’s are optional extras if you don’t think you’d have enough.
A lot of people do seafood, prawns etc. We sometimes do a salad style lunch with the ham, prawns, potato salad, coleslaw and a green salad. Plus a hot dinner with the turkey and pork, roast veggies etc.
The joy of a summer Christmas.

But We aren’t Cuban either.

And how many people want to live in the largest? Hmmm? Less than live in the smallest.

(I love Alaska, but in small doses.)
Alaska is like Texas in that both are large and diverse. Southwest Alaska ( the Aleutians) is very different than south-central (Anchorage, the Kenai Peninsula) which differs from southeast (Wrangle, Juneau, etc). And that doesn’t even begin to get to central or the Arctic coast. We left in 1980 when I joined the Navy and never returned primarily because my wife cannot deal with the yearly light shift but also the cost of living.
One of the interesting changes is the explosive growth of the Filipino population originally working in the commercial fisheries and the consequent increase of Filipino grocery stores and Filipino sections in the large chain grocery stores.

I’d forgotten that I have a copy of “Harvest”. Not my favorite Neil Young album (it’s a tie between On the Beach and Tonight’s the Night) but a classic and lots of Tim Drummond.
I enjoy them all. But Tonight’s the Night is really special. The raw, in the moment feeling of some powerful music.

What is interesting about Harvest is the Time Fades Away live record that he and the Gators recorded during the Harvest Tour. Neil hated it. He fought with Reprise about releasing it because he didn't think anyone would buy it. He was right. But all these years later, Neil is acknowledging that it is an important part of his journey. I’ve always liked it.
