Thunderbird Club

Ok so i got my new amp working and holy smokes! The Vox 50BA is a small beast! Shook the room at 1/4 volume! Its perfect with my Harley Benton T-bird!View attachment 5261948
I thought about getting one to replace my fairly old and noisy Rumble 25 as the amp to use traveling. A hotel amp. But the price, and that it required the external 19 volt DC power supply, were concerns. Then Covid happened and I stopped having to travel. When I played through one, I thought it sounded really good. I may revisit them as an amp to use with a Jackery or similar power station.

What was the issue with yours? Glad you got it sorted.

Been a while since I owned a Gibson, but this 2015 Les Paul 100 Studio was in dire need of help.

Somebody installed these lights and routing out part of the body to do so.
View attachment 5261954 Yeah, given the size of that backplate, I was under the impression that there was some elaborate circiutry hiding there. More about that later...

View attachment 5261955 Probably the most hated spec of those 2015 Les Pauls: the Robot tuners. The music shop I got the guitar from said that they would like to keep those, since they could use them as spares. I happily took them off right there and then in the shop.

So, about that circuitry behind that big hardboard plate...

CHRISTMAS LIGHTS, I don't know if it ever worked, since there was no connecting to be found that could power them, let alone a battery of some sort. But they were meant to make the instrument light up like a Christmas tree, for real.

Well, I decided to get the lights out of there.
View attachment 5261971 Which I did by using a wooden dowel and tapping that with a mallet. So you can say that I punched its lights out. :)

Those carvings you see which expose the maple top is the body's weight relief.

I put it back together as it is now, although I DO intend to make it more presentable.

What the? Who would do that? I do love the color though. Glad it found its way to a good owner Blaze.

Could be worse, have you ever seen Ace Frehley's famous smoking Les Paul?

It was made to create the illusion that he played so fast that it would catch on fire. Here's Ace explaining how it works.

Now as you can assume, to get that effect, the guitar needed to have some mods done and needed to be routed to have the circuitry installed...

So compared to THAT...
