Thunderbird Club

Yes, that was my 1997 Gibson. And you guys asked what strings and I had said SIT Rock Brights/nickel, but that not right. Those are Ken Smith Metal Masters, SS 110-50.

Thanks for coming out and for the compliment! Yes it was fun meet you guys and overall it was a fun night for us!

A very tight band with lots of unison playing and well balanced sonically. You guys rock! :bassist:

confirmed! :bassist: Aside from the extra-heavy price tag of the black one I posted - Wal's appear to go for a lot of money, usually hovering around $10K. I knew they had a cut following but I didn't realize they were that sought-after.

doesn’t get better than Wals imho…couldn’t afford them back then, can’t afford them now….got the privilege of once borrowing one for a gig in the late 80’s….Rolls Royce of bolt ons….

I'm going to start looking for a short scale Epiphone Thunderbird (Gibson is too much $), what model should I keep an eye out for? Sure wish a 32" scale was possible!

No short scale Bird from Epiphone, maybe a Newport?

Really I swear I had no intention of buying this today. It just happened. In my defense it is Gibson day at the Great great House of Guitars.

Nice. Think this might turn into something somewhat long term?

Did you mention you can double as Merch Boy? That would have no doubt sealed the deal.
It might. It is another dad band. These guys play more 90s music and not 60s and 70s music. So it will be a lot of fun for me if it does. They liked the Flamingo a lot. I don't think any of them had seen a Thunderbird in person before. They like being loud. The 360 will get exercise if it turns into gigs.

It would probably be even better if the band gets flashed since it is hard to play and sell t-shirts at the same time.

I played with some guys who need a bass player last night. I didn't feel especially prepared, and felt even less prepared when I found out that the versions of the songs were different from what I worked on. They were happy though. I guess that means I passed the audition. It was rough around the edges, but it was fun. Playing is always fun.
Great news!

I would love to be the crossdressing bassist in a Dad Band........

Hope it works out.
