I had just a couple minutes to check my work this AM before leaving, the difference was quite apparent, much better high end and overall as well.

Well..I picked up the main ingredient for the Lake Placid Blue VP project.
It was about 40 minutes from my home.
The seller was kind enough to accept my offer off $100 bucks off of ad price. I think he was so kind because last week I offered to pick up and be a back up if a better offer came in.
No pressure or hassle. Just an option for him.

Y’all know that I’ve been looking for something a little distressed that would justify a refinish.

Well, I continue to be disappointed..this one is as mint as it could be with the plastic still on the control plate…again…Just a micro scuff at the top of the headstock.

It seems like all of the Thunderbird sellers that I’ve had dealings with are cool people. This fellow was no exception..
So when my paint store opens I will re supply my finishing materials and then I’ll get started.
Winter is the best time to paint around here.
Lower humidity and no flying bugs in the paint shed :)
The one on the right is the new one. It’s a ‘21. Strung with flats btw.

I probably would have picked up the Firebird while I was there. I’m impulsive like that.

Super musicians - the Les Paul guitarist is a dead ringer for my friend Hank who is a drummer! Cool bass too! It looks like it might be a medium or short-scale.

I ordered a 2012 TV Silver Special Edition Epiphone Thunderbird. It'll be here in a few days, so I guess I'm jumping the gun a bit, but I'm really excited to have a Thunderbird again.

I had an Epiphone Thunderbird IV years ago and didn't really care for it. Then I had a Gibson Thunderbird that was great, but it didn't get played much so I sold it - another sale I regret. Lately every time I walk into GC they have an Epiphone 60's Thunderbird hanging on the wall. I pick it up and play it and its amazing - I don't remember my Gibson sounding anywhere near that good.

Maybe I should have picked up one of the 60's Thunderbirds, but when I saw the TV Silver for sale, I decided to give it a try. I've seen these TV Silver ones for years and thought they looked really cool. I even bought one on Reverb once and the seller flaked out and never shipped so I got a refund.

Does anyone know exactly what makes this a special edition? Other than the color, I read that the pickups were Les Paul Guitar pickups - is this true, and if so how do they sound?

Here's a pic from the seller. I'll post pics and a review after I receive it and get it setup and play it a bit.

Congratulations!

Yours is one of the last Limited Edition Custom Shops. It has a 1.5 nut. The earlier ones have the 1.72 width nuts. They were small runs in special colors. Some had the Epi Les Paul pickups like the T.V Silvers have. They are very ballsy with a nice bottom end. Enjoy!

They are in fact, guitar pickups.

I went back and checked the club roster, you are #715 :)
