Hey all, I had a question that I hope I can find some help with here. I have been searching for someplace to buy a "claw" tailpiece that comes on the Epiphone Tbird, Newport, and Embassy. I have done a bunch of searching but I can't find any way to buy this tailpiece. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Check the string spacing. The 2 point is wider that the 3 point.

Yep, played a good New Year’s Eve-eve show. Winters is always a fun one with its baked in challenges. Lots of people, not a great opener, really good closer, and we did ok for a band that hadn’t practiced together for two weeks. Not our preference, but holidays, family members in town, and such, made everyone’s schedules impossible to get rehearsal together since the Monday (18th) before Christmas. Good thing all of our completed songs are recorded well so we all did practice individually a lot. But there still no substitute for playing / practicing together.

The seller said the bass is like new (dated 2023) but the tail piece was damaged during shipping? Reputable seller on a well known website.
I can get it for a really good (great) price. $300+ less then brand new. All other detailed photos look like a brand new bass. Truss rod and electronics all reported to work. Peel Plastic still on PU’s and other parts.
It’s advertised as a 7 ply, neck through Ebony Epiphone Thunderbird 60s Bass and has a white pickguard. Very sharp bass!
I have fixed stripped wood screws many times. I think hardwood dowels glued in and redrilled would fix this. Would you risk buy and repair? It is sold as-is but if the bass is not as described I can use their satisfaction guarantee.

Yup. According to this, it would've been the Frankenstein. The guy who put the pic up on FB is probably a Thunderbird nut and found the pic really cool (it is), quite a few of them floating out in the air out there.... .

Yah, I've repaired numerous guitar cables over the years. Once repaired, every one regardless of age is still operational. But... I just bought another of the cheap & nasty 'wireless' systems to replace the POS MIC early purchase of one from a couple of years ago. Pretty much for around the same (cheap) price, but through a "reputable" guitar-world mega-seller (take your guess... one with "water" in their name...) this time, so at least once it craps out I have a better chance of getting a replacement... maybe.

I went pretty expensive for wireless. Shure makes them that are rechargeable, which I preferer, and the latency is about the same as a cable. As in hardly any. Some of the cheaper and nastier wireless systems have pretty bad latency.

Yup, those are the ones - I def recommend those tailpieces and locking studs! To be frank the bridges seem really good too, if I were building from new I'd happily use them.

Me being picky about cables means they have 1/4" jacks on each end and are usually black. If they are instrument cables, they get a red velcro wrap. If they are speaker cables, they the get a green velcro wrap. If they are xlr cables, the jack on the ends is different, and they get an orange electrical tape wrap at each end with numbers on them so I can keep track of what goes where. The velcro wrap is whatever is lying around. Usually black. If they work, I'm happy. If they don't work, then I take the jack apart and see what's wrong. That's usually the problem.

And before I forget, happy new year to you all. I'll be asleep when it rolls around, no doubt. No gig or anything else. I'm happy to avoid amateur night on the road. Stay safe and see you all in 2024.

My Orville also has 250K pots, so I'm going to change those.
Since I'm rewiring, I'm considering putting in a terminal strip. That would make pickup changes easy for comparisons.

Why hasn't anyone else thought of doing that? Brilliant!
