@JJR58 - welcome to the three pup club as well!
Would love to get the two basses together for a compare and contrast session (same strings, same pup heights, same amps using an A/B box). I don’t think one will sound better than the other (that’s way too subjective), but it would be interesting to hear the differences between the two. Solid body vs semi hollow, mahogany vs poplar and maple, maple neck vs mahogany lam, vintage/modern Tbird pups vs Chinabuckers, three tone pots vs one. Lots of differences between the two basses, but I bet there’s still a good bit of tonal overlap as well.

There will be pics and I saw someone 'filming' so we'll see. It was a perfect B-day - the sky was clear & sunny, everyone was in a good mood, and we were able to dial in a decent stage sound - always hit or miss at Winters'. I think we debunked the 'myth' about a whole room full of people sounding better... (as there was a smattering of locals & friends :D) I used the '64 II for set one and it sounded awesome (you’re all like… "yah, tell me something I don't know") Our drummer Phil even commented on it saying all my basses sound great but the T-bird had something more. The Coral Deluxe Bass also sounded awesome for set 2 - especially on Wichita Lineman, our next to last song.

B-days are for reflection and I have to say I’m a pretty lucky guy to play with such cool and talented people - we’re at that point that I have no doubt that our friendship and collaboration as musicians comes through loud & clear in our performances. And my friends who showed up on J1 - one cycling friend (Nancy) I haven’t seen for a few years. We’ve literally covered hundreds, maybe thousands of miles together over many years.

And... I’m thankful for all of you here, this obsessed group of on-line (mostly*) misfits unified in the cult of T-bird. *(some who I have met)



Let’s all create a rockin’ 2024! New Years Resolution: do what you love - take no prisoners! GEO :bassist:

That sounded like t was a great performance ! I saw the touring company "Rain" - a Beatles retrospective performance. It was incredible - hearing the actual Beatles in the '60 live would have never sounded as good. (sound quality) The four musicians were off-the-charts. The right handed bass player learned how to play Paul MacCartney's songs left-handed to land the gig!!! He also looked a lot like Paul and sang and played like him. Amazing.

The seller said the bass is like new (dated 2023) but the tail piece was damaged during shipping? Reputable seller on a well known website.
I can get it for a really good (great) price. $300+ less then brand new. All other detailed photos look like a brand new bass. Truss rod and electronics all reported to work. Peel Plastic still on PU’s and other parts.
It’s advertised as a 7 ply, neck through Ebony Epiphone Thunderbird 60s Bass and has a white pickguard. Very sharp bass!
I have fixed stripped wood screws many times. I think hardwood dowels glued in and redrilled would fix this. Would you risk buy and repair? It is sold as-is but if the bass is not as described I can use their satisfaction guarantee.

I would chance it and dowel and redrill as you said.

Electrically, I'll bet you are farther; it's cord length (and construction and quality) that matters, not physical distance.
