At the time it was released, the Klon Centaur was arguably the best sounding overdrive around. That top players like Clapton used it didn’t hurt its popularity. It’s still the gold standard for a lot of people, and I love it for guitar.
i realized that with my current situation, I only use my distortion pedal like an overdrive but it’s turned so far down there’s no subtlety to the control. I’d rather get a good overdrive. I’m seriously considering the JHS Notaklön. The only downsides are (1) I feel the white box will look dumb on my board[@] and (b) it’s a kit (of sorts) so if I don’t get on with it, I can’t return it.
On the flip side, (3) it’s only $99, and I could probably get close to that selling it assembled and (q) if I want to experiment to make a bassier version, it was only $99 and I didn’t damage a valuable artifact that museum curators, guitar warlords, and tomb raiders like Daniel Radcliffe will be trying to get.
