Don’t know why but this old vid propped into my mind.
Geddy’s book in audio with him reading is on Spotify. It’s a fun listen.
Got a link? I couldn't find it.
But I found Alex's "Victor". Finally it's been added. I have to admit it's much more interesting album than "My Favourite Headache". Especially this great track featuring the goddess Lisa Dalbello.
I’ve wondered that, too.Interesting. But that price. I’ve wondered why they’re doing the set neck thing with the raised center on the newest reverses. Way too rich for my blood.
Yeah, but at my age, when I walk in I'm ignored. Little do they know I'm looking to spend some serious $ on some gear. Like maybe a cable or a xlr>1/4" adapter.
15 yearsish ago I spent a day visiting music shops with two excellent, serious teenage guitar players. Both had saved money and wanted to upgrade to better guitars. After looking a bit, one of them asked for a cord to plug into an amp and see how a guitar sounded. The older of the two workers (who seemed to be the owner) started yelling at D that it wasn’t Guitar Center, etc. He’d been obsequious to me. When he finished his tirade, I pointed out that I was putting the lovely burst Gibson Flying V back on the wall that I had been walking to the counter to purchase, and we left. I haven’t set foot in the shop since. The advantage of being an adult. I was in the Chicago Music Exchange over 10yrs ago and they handed me a '62 Fender Jazz with a $20k tagger. Set me up with a nice rig and walked out of the room. When I was young they would stand there and watch you play a bass in a music store. As an adult, any of us 'could' whip-out a gold card and walk out with the nice stuff. An illusion for sure, but I very much enjoyed playing that '62 J!

I’d think loosening the cover would make it buzzier…
My MIJ Ric needs the TRC loosened, cause it’s completely flat and buzzy. Which can work in a band situation
I don’t want it a lot, but there are times sustain is just what a song wants at the moment.I tend to set most everything stringed up as low as possible, clean when played gently, but lots of buzz and stank when I dig in.
I really don’t get the whole “sustain for days” crap, play another shaging note or don’t play another shaging note, but don’t bore me by letting a single note ring out until I’m ready to leave…
Then they’d pay attention. Grands often spend money!Or maybe they think you are there to pick up your grand-kids!![]()
thx Roger, didn’t even know they existed….PHR75 posted a very good clip of a passive Ray as well ….regret having gotten of it? beautiful blonde finish….Yeah. I had a passive Tim Commerford long scale for about a year before passing it on. Because it was designed as passive, the pickup was louder than a regular Stingray. I regret selling it. Pickup placement was identical so it sounded basically the same as a regular Stingray with all preamp controls in the 0 settings (neither add nor subtract).

It’s still there? GC killed a lot of local shops. Then the internet killed more. But some killed themselves with that kind of an attitude. When I was spending a lot of time in Sacto from ‘15 to ‘18, there were two GC’s and three independents. All were decent stores. The best independent was across from the community college. He tried to compete on price. He installed strings for free, made sure instruments had proper setups, that sort of thing. He let you play anything, so long as it was a 7ender, which was all he carried. They gave lessons so the place was usually busy. I just looked and am happy to see they’re still there.15 yearsish ago I spent a day visiting music shops with two excellent, serious teenage guitar players. The GC’s closest to me, Bako and Santa Clarita, are duds these days. There is still Front Porch in Bako that is hanging on. And Bako Sound Co., which is owned by nice guys but not much inventory. There’s a good independent in Santa Clarita, but I pretty much have to go into LA proper or down to the OC for fun stores. I just get everything from SW and a few other sellers these days.it was still there 5 years ago.
we’ve lost some local shops but Austin’s still supporting local stores. My problem is that GC is the only place with much stock anywhere nearby. So for some things, they’re it - especially if I need things in a hurry. But at least it’s staffed my musicians who generally care.
