yeah it’s nuts, I have an RF background and when I started out, we had a russian designer who had to be kept from going to europe because he was one of two people in the world who could design a 65 GHz mixer……today AD markets chipsets operating at 24GHz for automotive “stay in lane” applications……just crazy…..I’m currently working on USB/4 stuff (40GHz) where data line protection diodes can’t exceed a few femto Farad of parasitic C so as not to disrupt rise and fall times……
Easy for you to say.

Got the Greco-alikes in my PB Non-Reverse - got to record it alongside the sound of the originals, just a queue for studio time!
Related topic: normal (reverse) Thunderbirds' bodies are the exact same size as Firebirds - is the same true of the Non-Reverse Thunderbirds/Firebirds? Getting templates together for fun projects - got a diagram from Mr Brooks but there are only certain dims on there, any helpful info gratefully received!

And I forgot to mention: the Greco-alikes sound similar-ish to the 60s reissue types on the recent Non-Reverses but, in the same way that Greco p'ups behave, they have an element of bass-end unbridled lunacy. I absolutely LOVE THEM. Will get them recorded soon as I can. Should have a bunch of comparison recorded snippets.

My Grandfather’s watch. I think the case is known as a hunting case? It has opening covers both sides.

It’s an American Waltham which was a common watch in those days I believe.
I need to get the mainspring replaced.
Yes on all accounts. I've got one that looks pretty similar to that one only in a pewter type case (and non-hunting). It's from the late 1880s IIRC. Your watch is likely from the same era.

My Czech grandpa (mom's father) was a conductor for Union Pacific RR.
Both my G-fathers (one an engineer), one uncle and a cousin all worked for L&N. I always hoped to end up with one of their watches. The bio-dad was never going to happen, but had hopes of the other Gdad and uncle sine I was the only one in the family to had an interest in RR watches. Not to be.

I think you are correct. I don't keep up horse racing. I lived a stone's throw (literally), from Churchill Downs and saw the other, non-pretty side of things and knew people who worked in the business. In fact, my wife and I see who can go the longest and not hear who won the Derby. We are inundated by "Derby" for a month or more here and get tired of hearing about it. I liked all the hoopla when young, but just holds no interest for me know.

Dad’s dad worked for the post office as a mail carrier, and for the railway postal service. This was his. I haven’t been able to open it to get the model but it runs. It appears to be a lever set, so opening is required to set it.

Nice! Yeah, they can be tricky if the threads ever get out of wack one too many times.

yeah same here, in circuit design and applications for decades now, currently with an old, well known european silicon manufacturer pushing product into california fruit……totally agree, fun work, has taken me all over the world in different roles….
I know what all these words mean on their own, but huh?

When you start talking about 65GHz it’s hard for me to wrap my mind around clocking something 65 Billion times a second! Crazy stuff!
