Thunderbird Club

I remember this Bird being listed for sale on eBay back in the late 90's or very early 2000's. I can't remember the price but it was a lot less than they ho for today. I lusted from afar because I was not in the financial position to even consider it.

Fossen worked at Bass Northwest part time, very nice guy. When I traded off my '73 4001 to help defray the cost of another Thunderbird, he said "I can sell this in a New York minute". He did, too. Now I miss that old Rick.

For the love of Pete!

I think it’s funny how quickly we’ve started tossing chips at Sub. I can’t remember. He’s close to you, no? Like Ohio?

Just a reminder. Book your flights and hotels now and get thee out to Seattle for the GTG. Last weekend in July. V says we can arrive early and stay late. Make a vacation out of it, meet your friends in person, and have one of the best times you’ve had in years. Hell. I’ve considered starting a Go Fund Me to get Mike there. But I’m not convinced he would get on a plane.

Oh, I like what I’ve seen and read about it. I just think it would be cool for them to do a bass specific one. There is a good vid of how to use it with an iPad that makes it look really simple using Garage Band. And I’m all for simplicity. Bluetooth streaming of Spotify to it to play along with looks awesome. I may just go ahead and get it. The price is right and I can offer my Vox Bass Amplug at a really nice price on here if someone might want it. I won’t be needing that anymore if I get the Fender Micro.
Oh, I hear you and agree. It's always nice to see bass-specific products. But in this case I haven't been left wanting.

The Bluetooth streaming to play along with music has been absolutely flawless. And at least through my headphones, I like the grit from the '65 Deluxe setting enough that I'd be perfectly happy gigging that tone. And even recording. I'll have to see how that sounds through a DAW. Unfortunately I have to use my old Apogee Jam 96k to record something for the band because the one dealing with it wants 24-bit. The Teisco and the Mustang are only 16-bit. Life is tough. :D I want to check out the newer Apogee Jam+ or X because of the blend feature to minimize or eliminate latency. Or one of the new iRigs with the output to an amp. If either works well, I'll sell off the Jam 96k and probably the Teisco as well.

Woulda. Coulda. Shoulda. I am lamenting passing on a couple Bicentennials only six, seven years ago.

Seems like an all around great guy with a sense of humor that fits right in.

That’s what I understand. Better than that Boss gizmo you tried. Right?

Baby steps for me. I don’t have time to mess with a lot of tech right now. And the retirement date is pushing back. Again. Maybe in a couple years and I can do some recording when I pack it in from the clampdown. I can play a passable bass, decent guitar and some keys. I’m actually wanting a Roland keyboard like Kristen has in the Sean Connerys. It’ll do 60’s through today (including a Farfisa like effect). My brother is ok on drums, but he’s a better guitarist. He may move his drum set to the basement at my place in the mountains that will be a studio of sorts.

Anyway, right now I’m:

Mine as I got it, the tip was broken in the same spot and where it becomes a tip along the raised center block.

All better now!

On my '66J, about every 4-5 years I take off the pickguard, check the screw holes for any signs of stress, file using a round file, and as I re-install, do a little more if a screw binds on any hole going back in. So far, no cracks or breaks.

Ha! I see similar things at Car shows all the time.
Car owner: This perfect condition mintified car is for sale for only $40k... with all original body.
Me: Why won't a magnet stick to any of the metal fenders, what's all of this paint overspray and why does the engine smoke?
Car owner: What? It's old and you expect to get a perfect, classic show car for less than $40k? Sheesh!
Me: OK can you help me lift this car into my cart?

My ‘68 National is the opposite. PG is perfect but the wood at each screw cracked. That’s some tough PG material.

I picked up my '77 Bird a few years ago because the prices started climbing again and I didn't want to get priced out of the market. She's a player with a solid headstock repair and I am happy to have her. I need to take some better pics.

I’ve got a crack on the Silvertone 1490. I may have Irv make a new one (it’s two pieces) for me. I really need to finish the project. It is a nice sounding shortie. I have the bridge parts (finally) and it would be cool to kick around with.

Not sure Irv will do tort. There, I said the T word.
