Thunderbird Club

Really? Dang it...back in the cart it goes! Ha! Just kidding...I like to eat too.

But that really looks like an alignment issue too.

Mine as I got it, the tip was broken in the same spot and where it becomes a tip along the raised center block.

I know the effects/sims are mostly geared for guitar. It wouldn’t take much for them to take some of what are in the Rumble Studio 25 practice amp and put them in what could be called a Rumble Micro. Once again, bass players getting the short end of the stick.
There is a Rumble 40 with all the doodads as well. No clue about connection to an iPad though. @Miles_ONeal may know.

Zoom does similar stuff I think, but again I don’t think it would connect to an iPad. Mine are old though, so that might have changed.

And don’t I know it. I have had the pleasure of meeting almost a dozen members now. And regularly converse with a few more who are too far away. It’s great knowing I can visit Sydney for example, and have a buddy show me around. And play some Thunderbirds with me.

I played with a guitarist who had a Line 6 guitar with all the sounds. It was pretty amazing. For the purposes of a cover band that is trying to sound like the original, it was OK because it would more or less make all those sounds. It wasn't great, though. It was close enough for a noisy room, but it was clearly not the real thing if you knew what the real thing sounded like.

It makes me wonder how good an electronic keyboard can ever truly be as well. They are getting very good. A real piano is different. Same with electronic drums. I'm a crank. So there's that.
Whe. Was this? The Pod Go sounds light years ahead of the older Pod offerings. The ‘pro level’ Helix/ HX Stomp are the same sound, but more options for patch blocks. As bass uses significantly less effects, the Pod Go works perfectly.

Those look more substantial than Earasers. But, same problem if you drop one.

Failed to mention that on one occasion, the barrel of one of my Earasers pulled free, leaving the earpiece stuck in my ear, since the plastic pull lines are attached to the removable barrels. It was a bit disconcerting. They designed them that way so you can replace the ear pieces as they breakdown or if you got the wrong size. And they do break down, with mine leaving an oily residue making it difficult to get them out of their metal casing. That is until it was time for one of them to fall out and be lost.

My group has gone into an extended break. We lost another mbr, the lead female singer. The few left agreed to stop unless we can build up the numbers. Being volunteers you can’t blame people coming and going I guess.
Anyway, as we all had to become associate members of Vinnies, I have reached out to their recruitment people hoping they’ll put an ad on Seek. Promising reply, we will be having a Teams meeting next Monday.

As I told ‘the stayers’ I just want to play the bass. It’s been years now.

I have also volunteered (begged?) to step down as BL if we can find a skilled replacement - I may still be the offical rep and go to the meetings and stuff, but if we can find someone to arrange us and improve us, I’ll step away in an instant.

Also, a Line 6 guitar? Do you mean the Variax? That’s a totally different technology than the new Helix/ Pod Go offerings. I cannot comment on how close they come. I just know the Helix/ Pod Go sound so close to ream thing you need not worry. £400 Pod Go vs £3000 Ampeg B15n. I know which one im taking to the gig!

Based on my non-scientific listening over the years, that's what I think as well. But I haven't done a scientific experiment with the same setups, same pickup heights, and same strings. I was convinced that wood didn't matter that much until the EB and '15 came along. Now, I'm convinced it does, but less than strings and fingers.
But not more than the silks, correct? You're not going to blow up the interwebs by denying this well confirmed reality are you?

Yep, that's what it was. Yes, a Line 6 guitar and modeling everything pretty much. It would have been new about 15 years ago, so I'm not surprised the technology has improved.

That's strange? I see the same basses double posted a lot but the price usually matches?
Plus why is the pickguard all wonky? Looks like the screws are all sticking up and the top hole is cracked.

Well after seeing that I took it out of my cart...

For the love of Pete!
1. You sure are picky.

2. What kind of engineer are you anyway? Did you focus a little too much on differential equations and skip the class that extolled the many uses of.....

The Steve Howe inspired Variax came out around twenty years ago. There’s one on the local CL now. Pretty cheap. I’ll check and see what the ask is. As a guitar, the playability was so/so. Sort of Squierish. Front Porch Music in Bakersfield was an early dealer and I tried one there.

Or retire from the clampdown and truly make it yours.

I don’t know. It really depends on the setup you play though. If you’re wanting true SVT tone, there is no replacement for a top line sealed cab IMO. YMMV.

twenty year old technology. I wonder how good it is. The original Pod from twenty years ago was… great for the time but not so good now. However, the original pod still sounds decent if you bypass the cab block and run into an IR loader. Their speaker simulations was pretty bad. Now, the IRs in Pod Go/ Helix, you’re at studio quality speaker sounds.

Found yet another vid featuring the illustrious 'Bird, wielded this time by Steve Fossen of Heart-

I remember this Bird being listed for sale on eBay back in the late 90's or very early 2000's. I can't remember the price but it was a lot less than they ho for today. I lusted from afar because I was not in the financial position to even consider it.
