Yes, yes it does - got a couple years left but I can see it happening.
Retiring in July, I’ve put my notice in. Even better, I’m taking Long Service leave from Easter. It feels even better than it sounds!
But she traded it for a Vega?
Congrats! Best career move I ever made (way back in 2012 when I was 55). And that’s coming from a person that loved his job.Retiring in July, I’ve put my notice in. Even better, I’m taking Long Service leave from Easter.
Im just over it all.![]()
That is about the color the fretless 'Bird will be when it is refinished. I hope sometime this spring or early summer. As I recall, that one is not metallic. This is the color the fretless will be:

There's probably something intrinsically wrong with my urge to paint Thunderbirds GM colors, since car Thunderbirds are all Fords.
Saw a Pinto with a 351 running around town when I was in HS. Not much clearance on the oil pan.Do you remember those Chevy small and big block Vega kits listed in the hot rod magazines in the 70's and 80's?
Knew someone who had a Vega but not a modded one-
Also calls to mind some local in Texas who had modified an AMC Gremlin to house a 327-
Another Chevy that comes to mind is the Monza- I believe they had a 260 or some other odd size small block-
We didn’t get them but I remember hearing that the Monza had a 350 available.Do you remember those Chevy small and big block Vega kits listed in the hot rod magazines in the 70's and 80's?

Thanks George.Congrats! Best career move I ever made (way back in 2012 when I was 55). And that’s coming from a person that loved his job.
My advice to everyone, retire as soon as you can financially afford to. You’ll add years of quality time to you and your loved ones lives.

There was a lunatic around where I grew up who had managed to stuff a small block Ford into a Triumph Spitfire. I'm not sure if the frame bent or stayed straight when he got on it. It was a ratty looking car, but it sure was quick. And noisy.Do you remember those Chevy small and big block Vega kits listed in the hot rod magazines in the 70's and 80's?

No factory fretless 'Birds that I'm aware of. Mine started life as a Pro IV, with an active preamp and whatever those pickups were. I hated the electronics and hated the frets. The frets felt huge to me, and I was used to small frets. At the time, I didn't have a fretless but wanted one. The solution to the problem was obvious. That was to be my next question- were there any rare factory fretless 'Birds as there were short scale ones?

I'm sure Uwe has one.I haven't ever seen a factory made fretless Bird, but.....We are talking about Gibson.
There are liquid cooled servers….A friend at church and I happened to be talking Sunday that when he was at J.B. Speed School (25 yrs ago?) for his Computer Science in Eng (CSE), he had to take classes in virtually all fields to have an understanding of connections and basically to teach thinking. Even had Thermodynamics, which I suspect has little, maybe nothing to do with Comp Sci. Maybe at some really deep level it would be needed.
