pretty interesting industry…had the pleasure to work in IC design (Philips NFC/i-CODE) that were used (among other things) in access control and got me involved in large deployments….interesting customers….so you work with BACnet and Modbus? any Ladder Logic involved in your deployments? let’s have a brew (or two) sometime….

I forget you had connections into that arena. I worked for a third party company that developed programming and documentation tools for PLCs (mainly Allen-Bradley and odicon, IIRC). If the owners had better business sense (and hadn't gotten desperate enough to do something illegal), they'd probably be thriving today - or have sold the company for big bucks.

It’s this kinda thinking that has me sitting on 28 basses (newer high quality slightly modified ones and somewhat modified -value decreasing- vintage ones), 13 amps, and 11 cabs. Knowing that stuff isn’t selling keeps me sitting on a lot of the amps I want to sell, (I don’t need 13! Maybe like 6-7 :D) because I’m not at the point of selling stupid cheap. The only basses I want to let go (currently 3) are listed locally and not getting any interest.:banghead: Again, not gonna drop price to stupid just to sell.
The other factor I have come to realize is that when I kick it, my daughter is going to have a lot of gear to deal with.

…not that I have kids, it’ll probably be the sibs or my niece, nephews or something, but I do have somewhat accurate records of the item, year, serial, mods and perceived (probably wishful) value. If the unthinkable happens and someone has to deal with it, it serves as a good guideline.

I keep this list more for insurance reasons.

I did the same and put a link to this forum. Better stuff goes here than Craigslist.

Music runs in your family! Sorry to hear about your loss! I’ve been through it with my Brother who was my band mate. I sympathize what you and family are going through. Sometimes music has been the only thing keeping me going!

The last bass I sold was the VP I just didn't bond with at all. I cannot remember selling anything else for a long time. The last bass I bought was the El Degas that Irv played matchmaker and professional enabler on. I don't currently have anything I want to sell, and I'm not in the market for anything I can think of. If the boy and the girl ever buy a house, the piano will go to them and I'll buy a fancy keyboard of some kind. And the next unaddressed project will be learning how to actually play it. That's a long way off.

Being out of the market is a pleasant place to be. At least for musical stuff. I'm wasting my money other ways now.

And your unbonding became my project. Hoping to be all done before the GTG.

Yeah, but a 340 would have been awesome. But at 16, that reads trouble. A 318 would have been nice. After a year I sold it and bought a ‘73 Duster with a 318. The guy before me shoved a huge cam, 4v and headers in it, and limited slip diff, and my teenage inner car guy thought it was awesome! I only learned later that in order for the headers to fit, the guy had to remove that pesky kick down linkage, which eventually fried the little 904 automatic. I found a 727, stuck it in and after some professional tweaking got it to run OK for awhile until I sold it after about a year and a half.

Here’s something I thought of. When I bought that ‘73 Duster, it was only 10 years old and it was considered a pretty old used car.

my 2011 Charger is 13 years old and is still a really nice car, with dated but still sophisticated gadgets (touchscreen, cruise control, AWD, Hemi), and has plenty of life left, even at 99k miles.
Yeah, back then it was considered pretty old. And back then hardly anyone would buy a car near 100k (most typically got rid of them before then), now that's not a thing at all. My '19 Lariat has 102k and likely runs as well as it did with 25k on it.

My first car (w318). Pretty decent engine for pretty light car. With bigger tires in the back it was a screamer, but got squirrely the faster you went. Short and quick was it's thing.

My condolences to you & their family :( sorry to hear of the loss.

Many of us are entering (many already have) an age where we will be losing long time friends and family members, much more so than when young(er). I have been fortunate to not have much death in my life up until recently. Most of the passing of persons in my orbit, over my life, have been expected due to age or health reasons. Thankfully, only one unexpected tragic death of a close friend when in my 30’s (Thankful for it being only one, not for the event itself, of course). Any others were a few degrees of separation from me, so while sad and unfortunate, not personally devastating. That will be coming….:(

I'm going to be level 30 this year, & as much as certain losses around me were due to age & health (family such as grandfathers, & great aunt), i've sadly lost some friends in my years growing up during grade school & high school. Few Close calls during my college years, & am glad they're still around. Though i miss the friend i've lost almost 15 years ago now, the tragedy of losing someone close, is never easy. Though to celebrate their life, rather than a simple mourning of their passing, helps in many ways.

what did you get for it if I may ask. One I’m selling is a pristineblack ‘22 VP with extras (black PG, long strap and gig bag it actually fits nicely in).
I would think you could get at least $600. I paid a couple hundred less but it was in less than perfect shape. Since I was going to mod it, that didn’t concern me. Will did a good job of filling the chips with black poly. I started sanding and polishing and it’s coming out reasonably well.

From the last pic you posted showing what you did, I think it turned out great.
You did a good job of it.

If anything happens to me in the next couple years, my daughter will have plenty of basses to choose from. The one she REALLY wants is the 50th Anniversary gold Bird. She likes a lot of the others but thats the one she really loves. Whatever is here when I am gone is up to her and my wife to decide what they want to do with.
