Thunderbird Club

It's actually easier than it looks - as with all things JS Bach, a very logical progression and once you are comfortable with the main line it kinda plays itself. I learned it years ago (in first & second position w/open notes) but haven't played it for years - I'll have to dust it off! :bassist:
We used to do it too, years ago. We made up our own arrangement, starting with the full Jethro version, and then playing an ”Over the Hills and Far Away”:ish thing ending with some rhythmic bouree singing/screaming to finnish it off… Have to see if I find the old casette with this:cool:

Bach is my favorite composer. Not that it helped my bass playing. Always thought Baroque was the rock n roll of classical music. Rock it Johann! I think I recall Eddy V.H. saying he listened to classical to get ideas. If true, was a great idea.
So did Hendrix:bassist: Last autumn I visited London and Liverpool and among other famous places, we checked out Hendrix flat in London. He had lived in the same house where Handel lived 250 years before. Jimi though it was cool, even though he didn’t know much of the fella’s stuff… According to the sign he prefered Johann Sebastian

The 27-year-old Ravens quarterback made history as the youngest two-time MVP since the National Football League and the American Football League merged more than 50 years ago. Jackson is the ninth NFL player to win more than one Associated Press NFL MVP award since 1967 but is the only one who hasn't won a Super Bowl.

I used to love football. Then the greedy owners let the greedy Spanos family leave San Diego. I haven’t watched a single game since. I won’t be watching tomorrow.

Posted this in a couple other threads but I think some tube geniuses here might have some thoughts. @Chucky Stiletti you listening?

I have two pairs of vintage Mullard 12AX7’s, I got these from TC Tubes (Great folks to work with). They show readings on the boxes which I have no idea what they mean:

I posed the following questions to Chelsea (the “C” in “TC Tubes”) and she did her best to answer, but I’d like to hear what others think. It may not matter all that much, but if there’s an ideal choice for one pair in one amp, I’d like to start there. And, I think, I usually lean toward clean bass tone, clear headroom with not a lot of grit. Clean volume with no speaker distortion. At least I think that’s what I’m hearing when I like my tone… Here’s what I asked:

“Is there a simple explanation for the “readings” you have on the boxes?

In my application(s), one pair will be in the preamp of a 200w tube amp and the other pair will be in the preamp of a 500W class D amp.

Is there one pair more suited to the 200w tube amp and one pair more suited to the 500w class D amp?

Both are Orange bass amps and Orange claims the preamp sections of both amps are identical.

For instance, the ones in yellow/green boxes show higher readings over the ones in the white boxes. Does that equate to a slightly higher output, or….?”

Chelsea’s response was:

“Spec for 12AX7 is 1600 Gm. So the 10M Mullards test at 100% of spec, and the high gain Amperex-labeled Mullards test at 125% of spec. This will likely translate into higher output, though it may not be an audible difference. It might also be a cleaner tone.”

Based on that answer I’d think I’d put the higher output Aperex labeled Mullards in the AD200B 200w tube amp and the others in the TB500 500w class D amp since there’s more wattage available.

And it may just be splitting hairs…
I’m no expert. But I know in the Mesa Subway 800 series heads it makes a difference. The WD800 takes the Chinese made 12AX7. The TT800 takes the Russian 12AX7s if you want the preamps to sound as the designer intended. I would ask the folks at Orange what they recommend re Millards in those heads.

You missed the last snowfall?

Yep, we got nothing appreciable here - Portland got nailed bad a couple weeks back, we just had some pretty low temps, no snow.

I have his contact info. You are #2 on the list :p
You will not be disappointed Dave. They are wonderful bases. That has the stock Artec pickup. I did not care for it. So with George’s hep, we put a Gibson Reissue in it. It is amazing. The route needs to be enlarged a tad to make it adjustable and that is in the works. Grab it if he wants to sell it.

He has a 7ender P and the BaCH. Says neither are going anywhere.
