OK, I dug a bit. First off, I have only had very old Switchcraft jacks fail, and precious few of those. That said, the Pure Tone design (if it's the same as the guitar jacks, and it sounds like it is) addresses the very design issues I've fussed about for a couple of decades, although I was primarily concerned about them as speaker jacks. I think their marketing department overstates the case with those graphs (e.g., there are still jagged peaks, they are simply reduced), which would turn me off except that I always look past marketing speak because I never know who to trust in that arena (unless they've proven themselves).

TL;DR: Next time I need a jack, I'll try a Pure Tone. Thanks for that, Jeff!

I won’t use anything else personally.
Built well, the added connection point is a plus. And to me they sound much cleaner and pure. Ymmv :)

Agreed on the marketing graphs. But they look like good jacks and they are not priced crazy high.

birria is a shredded pork stew that when added to a toasted corn tortilla with cheese which later gets dipped in the stew juices like an au jus makes for an excellent beer accompanying snack….very mexicano..
yeah bummer about the niners…..don’t know about that new OT rule…..:banghead:

The sleeve depends on connection with the barrel, which depends on pressure from the tip (and ring/switch/etc.) A minor point, but still. The bigger problem is the single, tiny point of contact for the tip (and any shorting parts). Dirt, oxidation, etc. only have to be in one tiny spot to interfere. At least some of the plastic jacks have this problem; I don’t recall if Neutrik does. Look at the photos here:
