Ran out of fuel pump and rattled it. Tore up some piston skirts and rings. Block is salvageable but needs honed, then some fresh pistons and rings. Hence starting with another block

been messing with pickup changes in some lesser liked treble geetars, I’ll be tackling some base geetars next, but that will mostly involve purging my last set of jazzy pickups.

Have you tried any guitar pickups in bass? I've often wondered how the Epi guitar probuckers would sound in a bass.

Thanks for all of the birthday wishes. That was very kind of you all to help me make it to 65.
I finished all of the clear coat on the blue VP.
Now she has to gas off and harden until somewhere around the first week of April. After that I’ll start the wet sand and polish part of the show.
Anything that looks rough is just reflection. There's no orange peel in the finish.
Lots of work but it will be worth it in the end. I pick out the project and Mrs. Gator chooses the color.
In our marriage, I'm the Boss..and I have her permission to say so.

Don't want to hit "Like" since it's not good news but you're definitely a Heavy Metal Monster!
I had lower back surgery and can't even bend over an engine bay for too long anymore.
I miss that but now I'm having fun modding guitars and basses...easier on my back.

On a personal note the last 12 days have included my 64th birthday, our 45th anniversary, and testing positive for the ‘VID after a night of fever and coughing. Still alive but fever goes in and out and joints hurt. And it’s not just old age.

Happy all the good stuff! Praying about that test result.

Yeah it’s a lot better hobby when you’re young, dumb, and full of, well, money

At one point, I could have an engine out of a Camaro in an hour. We had 4 racecars, and I pulled 13 engines in 4 months

It takes me awhile nowadays

I have used a bladed dimebucker in the bridge of a steinberger and a paf type in the neck.

my hohner has some early active emgs in it.

my Flying V bass has some bill Lawrence bladed L500’s in it.

they work just fine. Nothing exceptional or horrific about any of them.

I went down a rabbit hole with treble geetars....

I have a two guitars I really like but HATE the pickups.

One was an easy fix and I'm replacing the Gibson pickups with Epiphone pickups (firebird/mini-humbuckers)

The other one has regular humbucking shaped pickups, and the ones I hate are somewhat rare-ish Gibsons, and have a following....

I put them up for trade on another forum, and wasn't expecting a decent trade response, so I ordered a set of pickups I have always wanted to try....

shortly thereafter I got a trade offer for another set of somewhat rare-ish Gibsons, and the guy had another set of Duncan pickups that were in the realm of possibility for my pickup preference.....

so now my second guitar has three sets of pickups arriving today.... I guess I need to buy two more guitars? not sure how that is supposed to work....

I do have another geetar that I don't like the pickups but I don't like the guitar as much and I doubt the pickups will make a difference.....

Come on dude, you can fit most or all on one guitar!

I'm pretty sure the motorcycles have Yuasa batteries in them. They work well and last well for what they are and the kind of use they get.

Yuasa certainly owned that market in the 80s and 90s.

Title track (D&B) is one of my all time favorite songs. One of the few songs that can give me chills when I hear it.

I bought that album when it came out. In less than a minute, I was very disappointed with the title track. Ten plays in a row later, it occurred to me maybe I’d been wrong about that.
