I don't understand the 'No Carbs' thing at all. The Asian people I know consume rice three times a day. In fact the phrase for eating translates to, "Eat rice"...and all third world skinny people have basically a high carb/low protein diet. It's the carb processing in packaged food that does the damage IMO.

Sugar, though, in all its form is pretty much the same. It kills when ingested in the huge amounts the average Westerner does.

I'll stick to my horse diet. Oats, pasta, bread, beans, vege, fruit, onions, olive oil, nuts, and garlic. With a small amount of cheese and fish plus plenty of water.

Nuts, seeds are happening a lot here, also olive oil, garlic... some fats, complex carbs, grains. Little meat, much greens. I'm becoming almost a fetishist... there is a certain commonly-sensible ethic that helps it along.

Now, with all this talk about diet, i'm really craving some good tone.

And this is the tone i want out of a Bird, regardless who makes it.
Not into the distortion in the first part of the vid, but all the clean tones, Yeah, that's the kinda weight i wanna put on.

That sounds like a T-bird alright. :bassist:

West Coast time, I just had a unbreaded Salmon patti 0 grams carb and a single small carb balanced tortilla for breakfast, now I'm sorting my old vinyl, going get rid of most all of it - found this gem in amongst a lot of much more pedestrian stuff, keepin it!

Talk about obscure bands from Portland, OR.

I see portion control and balance - I'm still learning that. I know you're pretty trim Carlo, also keeping busy building basses around the shop has to help too.

That's what was 1/4 lb. of dry pasta, I go thru a pound every 4 days, so I boil 3 lbs. at a time and freeze 2. We ate pasta almost every day growing up. All five kids were thin and have mostly stayed that way. My ex wife grew up in a family that had meat and dessert at every meal. She's 5-10 and weighed 117 lbs when we met. So I do realize genetics and metabolism have a lot to do with what you weigh, regardless of what you eat.

Oh yeah, I got rid of all the chairs in my house and shop. I don't exercise but I'm either on my feet or reclining. They say sitting is the new smoking!

I love horsefood!

We live off pasta and rice, veges, pulses and occasional/small quantities of dead animal. My BMI is within recommended parameters and I have the blood pressure of a teenager.
If left untreated, I have the blood pressure of a type A lunatic. Which is appropriate, because I can be a type A lunatic at times. The good thing is that I can eat just about anything without damage. Habanero peppers? No problem. Dead things? No problem. I don't care for sugar or white rice or pasta much, so that helps with the BMI thing. But, in order to be properly sized according to that, I would have to weigh less than my skeleton probably weighs by itself. So, I don't pay much attention to that.

With the exception of genetically high blood pressure, I seem to be bomb proof. Ozzie Osborne is probably a long lost relative of some kind.

I just need to get moving again. I was running a lot for a long time (marathons, etc.), but needed a change and switched to kung fu. That was quite a workout. Needed a break from that and trying to figure out what to do. Other than weight training once a week and my regular walking everywhere in the city here, I feel my fitness suffering.

I have a fun rediscovery story of a past activity that got me reinvigorated. Last Summer I went to visit my brother in Livermore, CA and he invited me to play tennis with him like we did in the "good ol' days". While out there, we went out to play 3 times and he whipped me pretty good since I hadn't played in 20 years and he has remained competitive on club ladders playing singles. Well, since last July, I've played at least twice a week and upwards of 4-5 hours per week. It's been a blast rediscovering a long lost passion(tennis) and have made a dozen or so "tennis friends" to go out and hit/play with since. I'm not giving up on the mountain biking which is what I got into during the no-tennis years and plan to do both as long as I can. Staying active is the key and I highly recommend regardless of fitness level that we all get moving or keep moving.

I'm a nervous wreck in general, but i've got my anxiety under control without the use of any drugs.

That's where i really lack, exercise, although i get a bit of it at my job, i like you, go for extremely long walks in town with my camera.
Do it till my legs can't take it anymore.

Martial arts are outstanding exercise. Time and an iffy back finished off my participation, but Aikido sure was fun. I can remember going hard enough to see black spots every so often. That's probably bad, but it's the type A thing.

As a former personal trainer and powerlifter I offer one very simple formula for weight loss. Take in less calories (any kind) that you burn and exercise (cardio or weights or both ) atleast every other day=weight loss guaranteed.
For me I nolonger have the desire for weights so I focus on diet. Extremely low carbs, lean meat/veggies.
Of course there's always heroin/crack
