Seriously, it sounds really good. It's a rainy gray mf and I'm surrounded by idiots. I really want a drink.
BTW I've been doing Mr Ubernator's diet for the past couple months which has meant no drinking.......Queen is skinnier :D

I started watching the carb intake and upped the veggie intake. Also stopped eating most of the sweets that I love so much. Down 10 lbs so far and honestly don't miss most of my food indulgences like I expected to. Big test next week when I go to Mississippi to visit my parents. They seem to fry almost everything there.

Hairs can be split and various theories leveled but the 80's post about '84 was all about retro in many ways, longing for "simpler times". In the US a particular B actor answered that nostalgia politically. Fender was needing a major boost to right its sinking ship after the buy-back from CBS and mining its past proved wildly successful. The rest is as they say (past) history (regurgitated).
Good points. I find it interesting that the Fender guitars that many consumers rejected (and out of production at the time?), Jazzmaster (E. Costello and Sonic Youth) and Jaguar (Television?), were brought back from the dead because certain alt/punk artists picked them up at pawn shop prices. The people that eschewed cool accidently made them cool to a new generation.

My cultural sensibilities are a slightly "offended" in that I never considered "Bedtime for Bonzo," to be a B-movie (pardon the alliteration).

You're right, "B" is giving more credit than deserving ... ;)

I'm down about 15 lbs over the last two years, with about 10 to go to get to the bottom range of ideal. That's 165 lbs. Then the goal is to stay between 165 and 170. The last ten are going to be a challenge, even without beer. Slow and permanent is better than fast and temporary anyway.

Nice Andy!

I cut the carbs to just about nil, its tough to do. I still find myself craving them, almost like nicotine. The shopping cart looks strange with no bread, crackers, taters, milk etc.

I must be the only one here trying to actually gain weight. I've been going to the gym pretty regular, pumping some iron, shoveling whey protein, trying to get enough sleep, and no sugar at all, as possible. At 55 I'm trying to get UP to 165!

Being of an ectomorphic body type, sometimes it seems like my body is going to consume itself if I don't keep up! (Ok it won't...but sometimes I wonder...)

Good to hear everyone's weight loss/gain stories!

My diet is carb heavy: pasta, bread, and tortillas every day. My weight loss plan was simple: Lose an ounce a day. That's just shy of 2 lbs a month.

Get a scale that's accurate to .1 lb and weigh every morning. Adjust eating accordingly. Okay so that's 1.6 ounce a day but the important thing for me was to quantify the whole process toward an easily attained goal.

Slow and steady is my goal. When I moved back to Phx. in 2004 I weighed 170. I gained a ton of weight and got up to my heaviest ever at 225. When I changed jobs the last two times I was stuck at a desk most of the day. Inactivity, slowing metabolism, and poor food choices really caught up with me. Finally reached a spot where I had enough and wanted a change. I agree with you Carlo, setting attainable goals has really helped so far.

I can't remember the last time I had a proper 'cooked breakfast'.

To gird myself for a day's walking in the damp and chilly Scottish countryside my breakfast of choice was a kipper followed by porridge. Normally on week mornings (in town) it was toast with marmite or vegemite.

The weekends were a different story - bacon and/or sausages AND/or black pudding with tinned tomatoes and/or fried mushrooms, baked beans, toast and brown sauce. Sometimes the sausage was Scottish Lorne (aka 'square sausage'). I have been known to wolf down a couple of tattie scones or even fried bread, but only if it was served when we were out. I don't eat eggs. Disclaimer: I have never eaten haggis for breakfast.

I've never tried kippers, black pudding or haggis.
Hey I think I put them in the order that I imagine I'd be likely to ever try them. :)

It wasn't always whimsical.

Grandmaster Flash & TFF hey. I have a 12" single of that somewhere.
Someone I used to consider a friend gave me that in lieu of the money he owed me. "Keep it - it will be worth heaps of money". It was the copy he used when DJ'ing in a club in the city, so well used I guess.
I only took it because I knew I would get nothing else. I've never seen or heard from the guy since.
I suppose I should look for it one day.

Aha, my endocrinologist (for Hashimoto Thyroid) has put me on a 'no potato, pasta, bread, rice & no cereals' diet. I have lost 7kg since the end of Oct. He even said no to rolled oats for breakfast when I questioned him. Actually what he said was "no bloody horse food"!
He allows me 2 blowouts a week, @so make sure I really want the cake or chips or whatever and REALLY ENJOY IT!".

It has made a difference and my reflux/heartburn has reduced noticeably as well.

I started a self imposed low carb (replace the grains and starch with veggies and protein) eating pattern a couple of months ago (notice I didn't call it a diet, for me it's intended to be a change of lifestyle not a temporary weight loss tool). Im 6 foot tall with a medium to large bone structure and the first month I dropped 10 pounds (down from 200 pounds to 190 pounds). My self determined target weight is 185 and I'm zeroing in on it. As Carlo noted, it makes a huge difference to weigh yourself every morning first thing. You'd be surprised how good you can get at guessing your weight within half a pound before even stepping on the scale. It also gives you an opportunity to directly link what you ate (or the exercise you did or didn't do) the day before to your weight the next day - nearly instant feedback.

I also have recently been changing my diet. Being diabetic i can mo longer listen to the ADA. The ADA recomends a person my size (6'2" tall) eats 250-300 grams of carb a day. For me that makes zero sence! Why would they recomend i eat so much of the bery thing that is killing me? Their explanation is alimg the lines of, bit people ajould be able to eat what they want.

So after a long search for an Endocrinologist that thinks the way I do, more changes are on the way. I, on my own droped my carb intake below 100 a day. Under my new healthcare I will be dropping my carb intake to below 50. Lots of cood veg(grown anove ground) some fruit balanced protien. Basicaly its a high fat(the good kind) low carb. My nody needs to reset itself so it will run in whatnos called Ketosis so it burns fat imstead of carbs. Much more efficient. This sort of diet has been around forever and its proven.

Another member of our had some serious weight loss. I cant remember who though.

Good way to put it.

Nope, same here. My wife is always on me to gain weight. I must be the only one I know to have a wife tell me not to go running and go to the bar instead.

I have days of no carb intake at all, and then days with just a little, but never more than 5 grams at one meal, and have had a really noticeable reduction (like almost none) in reflux/heartburn too, which is really nice.

forgot the strap on tuesday so... had to use the chair
