Thunderbird Club

I haven't tried Ardbeg or Laguvulin, usually bowmore (cause it's good and cheap…er) but as of lately I'm on a Johnnie Walker budget.

I will definitely keep that in mind.

If I ever do take you up on the offer I'll at the very least bring a picture of my Thunderbirds.

Well, i guess that would be a lot to ask, so i'll take the picture as a gesture in good faith.
But seriously, Any Thunderbird player is welcome in my book.

Bowmore 12 year, I love it!

No offense intended - in my eye Tort looks perfectly at home on a Fender style bass, but on a TBird (especially a white one) it looks too 1950's-horn-rimmed-cat-eye-glasses-leopard-spandex bodysuit gaudy to me. Again, please don't take that as dissing your bass, I'm sure it's a rocker and I'd gladly stand next to you on stage while you played that, but I just wouldn't go out of my way to strap it on (says the guy with pink paisley and blue flower basses, go figure).
Rock it like you stole it!

No offense received - your analogy hit a couple deliberate aims but frankly 'spandex' has always been for cycling in my book. And with a 9v Kubicki pre-amp under the hood - it is (a rocker) and I do (rock it). :bassist:

Seriously, it sounds really good. It's a rainy gray mf and I'm surrounded by idiots. I really want a drink.
BTW I've been doing Mr Ubernator's diet for the past couple months which has meant no drinking.......Queen is skinnier :D
Proper dieting is important. And we all know the truth in the saying, "All things in moderation". :smug:

Therefore I'd remind you that when dieting it's important to substitute different starches and sugars every now and then as you count calories. This will keep your digestive and metabolism systems on their toes as well as your mind and nerves relaxed. :woot:

So go for it - skip that toast and bacon for breakfast as well as the sandwich bread or chips for lunch and mashed taters or pasta with dinner and instead treat yourself to a glass or two of wine or a couple shots of scotch or a pint or two of beer. :)

And don't forget that exercise is a great way to burn off those alcohol induced calories. Here's a neat little link for those of us in the states...

*Books... not enough time.
*Scotch... ale and Guineas mostly, round here.
*Ain't no businessman, not even close, so I can only stand in stunned admiration at those with such an act together enough to succeed at it. I'm a "skilled laborer" with a steady gig.
*I DO have, and play an Epi Thunderbird though, and I'm pretty sure it doesn't get very much cooler than that. :D

I've been in at least 500 factories in Asia and Mexico and have consulted on finishes and finishing lines. I DO know, "How difficult would it be to add another color?" in an industrial environment, how much it would cost proportionally, and the price a product has to retail for based on its FOB cost to be profitable.
I would sincerely be interested in hearing more about this, if it is something you can share. I have no idea about where automation is/isn't used in this process. Labor is obviously a factor (Asia vs Mexico vs U.S.).

Related to the above, I would also appreciate your insights (or speculation) on how Fender can offer more color options on basses and Gibson can't. Is it due in part to them gaining huge and permanent market share being one of the first entries in electric bass market? [Note: I am not trying to be contentious here. I really am fascinated by this "stuff".].

I once met a gentleman, who had been with PRS guitars. In his opinion, he thought it was a mistake for the company to offer their entry-level MIA. He thought they should have stuck with their high-end MIA and Korean-made lines. He thought Korean and entry-level U.S. would eat into sales of high-end MIA. He also confirmed what some of you have mentioned: 80/20 rule - us "oldsters" buy several instruments AND the higher end models ('cause we deserve it, damn it!).

I was just going to bring up MaCallan,

You have good taste indeed Tbird.

Always a special invite for you if you are ever in my neck of the woods.

Same for me, if anybody's visiting Seattle, the welcome mat is always out for Thunderbird players.
