I run entirely on a Kemper or hx stomp now.
My best anecdote was my 63 b15n. The last year they were handwired. It sounded fantastic. I took it with me to Sonic Ranch in Tornillo for a session. I took my Kemper with me. While we were there we profiled it as just the amp and with a while chain after the mic. Reamped a DI take through the real things and the Kemper. We could all hear a difference in the two. But the only one of us that could reliably pick which was which was the guy running the tracks. That amp is basically holy Grail status for some folks and I couldn't reliably pick it from my profiles. Couple that with the fact that I get way more headroom through my Kemper and a k12.2 and now I could comfortably gig that "amp" at any IEM gig or backline gig comfortably. I can run that "amp" through FOH anywhere. All that combined to make me a convert.
Anyways, sloppy one take no edits no click AB of my Mike Lull Bird straight in without and with the Cali76 stacked in a pretty tame parallel compression setting. Gain matching was just done using my ears through some headphones and the cali output knob. First time through is direct, second time has the Cali on.
nice!….thx
