For the finger players here, do you tend to lead with your index or middle finger? I always lead with my middle. My bass teacher insisted that New Yorkers tend to do that (take a guess why) but most others lead with their index. Maybe he was kidding, but I'm curious.

I lead with my index most of the time, though if sweeping or playing triplets its my ring finger that leads.

I don't know. Probably either one. Sometimes I just use one finger, and that could be either one. Sometimes three. When that happens it is a ring finger lead.

I never had any nicknames that stuck until college, when I got dubbed Mad Dog when being ribbed about a reaction to something annoying. I decided to own it, and did completely. Roadkill came later.
I was called Bear off and on as a kid and Beast off and on in college. I don't know exactly how either of those happened.

In Gonzales with the in laws.
This is why we were there 13 years sgo:

We'd gotten a midnight phone call that our daughter, SIL, and their infant had been in a car wreck in Houston. We drove from Round Rock to Tomball, picked them up (in a Mazda 3! Coy!), and drove them home to San Antonio. So with one in law (who had a broken ankle or two).

Prayers and good thoughts! Good healing!

Those darn in laws I tell you.

Grabber and not Grabber 3? I used a Grabber for several months when I began trying to play. Thought it was odd the pickup moved, but now I think it's a clever concept. Don't remember a thing about it but it was think and the neck dove, I think. But I would have had a very cheap strap. Just never was a fan of the yellow natural finish. Would love to play one again.

I always felt (and still do) that the 'moving pu' concept was a gimmick. (simply consider that it never "caught on") I also feel that way about '60s vs '70s Jazz bass bridge pu spacing. We're talking about very minor physical (spacing) difference. Yes, any bass will have a "sweet-spot" for pu placement - I totally subscribe to that. But considering a lot of the conjecture about basses - much of it comes down to the individual players' "feeling" about differences. (as in - not definitive) Then there is a general concession, an agreement that this position or that position sounds "best"... to that collective of jointly agreeable people and people who accept that conclusion w/o actually knowing to feel aligned. All subjective IMO. Moveable pu's is a solution in search of a problem.

I had (have) a sunroof in all my cars and also in my 2004 LeMans GT (great car!) and if someone cut me off I would liberally fly the finger of fate out the sunroof at the offender. My wife got so mad!

One day I was going to work and a guy in the wrong lane cut right in front of me almost wrecking my car. I slammed on the brakes and proceeded to fly my feelings out the sunroof window and unfortunately my sunroof was closed on vent. Ouch! Stoved my middle finger. I learned a very important lesson that day…always make sure that MoFo sunroof is open at all time. Even in the winter! Ha!

I try not to 'express' in that manor while driving, especially in the world we live in today. People have guns in their cars and they don't care. At least where I live.

If I wasn't already planning on running over to Rio Grande Pickups with a big blue thing next week, I'd probably order some for my 5 string project. I still might, we'll see.

And there's also David Barfuss. He's from Germany too.

It's not "giving the finger" Its showing half of a peace sign. :)

Things went great tonight. The band gelled immediately. I’m really hoping the service was recorded; I’m waiting to find out. I’d play with any of those cats any time. The song I was having a hard time with? It ended up with a distinct Fleetwood Mac “Go Your Own Way” vibe (remember I was thinking it needed a McVie-inspired bass part? I was right!), complete with scorching lead guitar and two women with different styles who sang great together. At least during rehearsal. It was still great during the service, but the overall vibe was a bit too chill for the song as rehearsed at that point, so we toned it down a little. Still fun. And Sarah gave me chills when she sang lead on another song. The drummer? Powerful without being too loud. I forgot to take ear plugs, but it wasn’t a problem.
I also discovered a gig bag works great for carrying stands in.
Greco -> pedalboard -> 2xRumble 100 with a sound board feed. (And probably the best sound tech I ever worked with. She really knew her stuff.)
Sounds really good.
Even better with real sound. Hopefully that can happen.

"Go Your Own Way" as a closing song seems fitting as is. No need to announce it's over.

Better Mad Dog for the reason you stated than you were known for and named after your favorite drink.

Also be careful who you are saying "hello" to is important, but an unknown. I was driving once and my cousin was passenger and the dudes behind us were make their presence known. Cousin signaled his appreciation. Got stoped that the stop sign a block away and all of the sudden the passenger of the other car was waving a Crocodile Dundee knife in side the car in my cousins face. I was able to drive of with his head still attached.
