Thunderbird Club

While I was writing the third one, Sharon and I saw the first Dr Strange movie in a theater. During the scene where Dr Strange was fighting Dormamu, Sharon and I looked at each other and said, "That's <place_in_books>!" When our son finished his beta reader copy, his first comment was, "What did Mom think of the acid trip sequence?"
There's no acid trip, but some of what happened there may have been influenced by long ago trips. My brain can revert there on command. Or in my dreams. But that dream was nothing compared to <place_in_books>.
Yeah I'm currently at that part in your third book. It is quite trippy:laugh:

6 melty tuners
5 tuuuuuning pegs!
4 bass strings
3 fingers trapped
2 bridge straps
And a body of mahoggggannnyyyyy...
Don't ask it to draw a Thunderbird Bass...it only knows the shape of Fenders. Well maybe an EB!

Speaking of Thunderbird drawings, does anybody here have an NR drawing in electronic format? I have a tracing, but I would like to make a body template with a minimal amount of sawdust.
I think I could print it out in sections on my 3D printer. Then use that to make a one piece (stronger) template.

I like that tiny OLED display on your nexperia demo board. Those displays are amazing...very low power since they don't need a backlight. Super tiny, legible fonts too.
Also whenever they build a demo board they can plop a noisy switching 5V 3A DC DC convertor on an island away from the other circuits.
In most consumer designs you almost never have that kind of real estate. That noisy switcher might be crammed on a little circuit board right next to the audio circuit in a guitar pedal or other small audio design!
My question is what is that ultra bright backlight thing next to the batteries?
It looks like an LED backlight for an LED display or maybe some Alien control pad?
You're having too much fun at work!
yeah fun stuff…..lotsa low hanging fruit…
s you guessed the bright light is a show example LCD backlight, one of three sample showcase loads, another being a small fan..

Yes I never could figure out if you want AI to draw a Bass player there's always more tuners then strings on the bass. Plus like you said...the fingers are wonky too...in between the strings!
On a Tibson Bass!

creepy

I just have a vague memory of lots of TC peeps from all over. So I can't swear to it, but I feel like you were. I suspect you brought a big ol Can-O-Worms, too. And some blue "grass" from KY. Or maybe it was jelly..
You have clearly mistaken me for me. The first me wasn't there cause....

Any of y'all ever use DR Sunbeams Nickel???? Was next door to GC today so I dipped in and they had a whole mess of them for $5. I grabbed a set just for the hell of it.
Years ago. Nice strings. Not dark, but not bright either. (Helpful I know.) Like any other, they will do the trick on some basses and be a trick on others.

At least it seems to have gotten the pickup in the right location.;):D

I really like the Hercs. I guess if I played on a tiny stage or if public transportation were a viable option, I might not want to lug it around. As is, I have a good system that fits well in my Mazda 3, isn't too heavy (thanks to a foldable hand truck for the fx board and amps), and only requires two trips (ditto thanks) from the car with everything. I'm currently using my gig bag for stands; I need to get a better bag for those.
...

My Hagstrom guitar only has two pickups, but is custom wired. I really like having a switch per p/u (on, off, reverse phase) and a series/parallel switch. Whenever I get around to building the 3 or 4, I expect to do something like that with the per-PU switch, but I won't bother with S/P with more than two pickups.

Golf bag for stands.

I do kinda like the P/J/MM pickguard though

I don't think the devices Chuck was describing could melt that much ice, but it would be cool!
I'm not so sure. Recall him posting that strange antenna in that secret location out in the middle of nowhere? It was a death ray machine I tell you. Even half a continent away I don't ask him questions about it.

I have Hercules wall hangers now, and will install the diamondLife panel in the new place. When I play out, I tend to just slide the bass into the open Gator case. More stable than any stand they might have on stage and even folded, one of these floor stands is too much to lug around with me.
I love the Diamond life slats. You can hang a lot of basses on a six foot slat, depending how you angle them.

I doubt I need to say this to you so consider this a PSA.

Be sure to follow the instructions re drilling through and installing the screws in the channels and not on the face of the boards. And secure them to studs in a couple of places while using mollies for the rest. There are some out in the GP who didn’t follow the instructions or use common sense and complained when their hundred pounds of basses fell off the wall.

Mine have been hanging like that since Jan 2017 without an issue. I really like them.
