Thunderbird Club

My wife has never forgiven me for not being French and not having a villa in the south of France. Italy probably would have worked for her too. Rosa appears not to have that problem.

I recently found out that my Mum's paternal ancestor and descendants were made (minor) nobles in Bretagne, France back in 1432.

We are from the illegitimate mixed race branch of the descendants… :wideyed:
But still.

I scored pretty big last week. A virtually new condition '78 TB-900. No play wear, edge wear, dents, dings even noticeable scratches. Just a little tarnish on the pickup and hardware. Even the Faultless case is mint. If it was ever played it wasn't very much. It popped up in my eBay feed one morning. I've been looking on and off for a while but a little more diligently lately. I've really missed the one I sold some years ago. But holy s#*t, I never expected to find one like this. Free shipping from Japan too. I bought it on eBay on 4/23. It shipped the next day and was here in NY the 25th. I'm blown away how clean it is. Some pics:

For that price. I'd want proof Jerry played it for at least a dozen concerts, and the sweat hadn't been cleaned off. Tricky since Jerry didn't play bass.
The Ebony '79 collector, @KingFace, last posted about them in '19.

There have been three for sale listed this year. One in California, one in Japan, and this one in Indiana. Supposedly, Gibson only shipped 7 of them in '79. So who knows. Anyway, I am not aware of a Bicentennial selling for under 3K for some years now. While still high, with that price drop, I think someone will buy it for a lot more than 1/2 of the new asking price.

Congratulations! Very nice. With Maxons. I bet it sounds amazing.

"watch that bird!….see if it dies!"…..
There are fishermen in Mexico who traditionally caught and ate barracuda. Barracuda are apex predators, so they were full of all kinds of toxins. The fishermen would test the fish by putting it out to see if ants ate it. If the ants ate it, then it was OK.

I wonder how many Maya got sick to figure that one out.

For that price I could buy 4-5 really good basses.
And not have to worry about putting my coffee on it.
