My description of that thing is this:

An object that is small and easy to drop. When dropped, it will bounce in some odd direction and then end up in the one place it cannot ever be retrieved from without demolishing the entire building. And if that doesn't happen, it cannot be installed by anybody with fingers larger than a mosquito's nose.

Now that's some serious flats avoidance syndrome. When was the last time you played/gigged flats? You don't like the tone or feel--or both?

The last set of Flats in my house arrived with my Gibson Studio, just for the sake of trying them, I left them on it for a couple days to try them out - again. They were horrible in every imaginable way, dull, no top, no crispness, no clank when using a pick, at first I thought that the bass was a Dog and that I'd made a huge mistake in buying it. Fortunetly, @BklyynKen had sent me a set of SIT PowerSteels and I put them on it and it was instantly great to my ears, those are the perfect match for a TB Plus pickup. My other most recent experience involves TI Flats, let's just say that they fell far short of the hype that seems to surround them, tonally there were bland, like that Italian sauce were talking about yesterday. The tactile is the other aspect, I simply detest how Flats feel on my fingers.
With all this said, this is just my preference, nothing more. It's not meant to insult anyone's choices on strings, as it is said, "Play what you love, love what you play".

I can't imagine anyone taking that as an insult. All perfectly valid reasons. We all like to hear different things from our basses. I can certainty understand people not liking them. I've tried them on a number of basses and they just sounded as uninteresting as humidity.
